Forums - Gaming - Fans cheer ‘smooth’ Smash Bros. Wii U online experience while Microsoft and Sony games struggle - Anyone finding this to be true?

Good to hear it's not having major issues. Will have my copy in a few hours and will test the online myself.

Well lets be honest here, they're very different experiences. Smash Bros surely doesn't require as much server power as something like DriveClub or MCC.

But good to know that it's functioning well, I never managed to play Brawl online.

I thought fighting games netcodes were the hardest to do because of precise movements?

There's a difference between the game needing to be latency free and the amount of information that needs to be sent.

Also anyone know if smashbros uses dedicated servers or not.

Oh yeah, spurge stp making comparisons^ Its going to be another war in here

How many fighting games have broken online, serious question.

I predict that the Wii U will sell a total of 18 million units in its lifetime.

The NX will be a 900p machine

Isn't it great when one doesn't focus so dang much on graphics?

Well, good for you. I know I never had any problems with BlazBlue (any of them, from Calamity Trigger to Chrono Phantasma) Or, just about any other fighting game, unless the netcode was bad.

And, Smash brothers isn't as technical, so I doubt it would have as much load as other fighting games. And, even if it did.. Wii U is still a stronger console, and that helps. Wouldn't expect Smash to be a laggy game. Tekken Tag 2, and Soul Calibur V had great online code, and if the same people were helping in part with Smash 4, I wouldn't expect it to be laggy. Plain and simple.

This may very well be true, i don't actually know, but it's a game where it is probably even more important for the experience that there is NO lag.

In SB games can be literally won and lost based on a few stuttering frames.

One also gets the feeling that part of the reason some other games have had online issues lately has as much or more to do with lax quality control and beta testing than the actual technical challenge of getting the games to run smoothly online. You get the impression these games would probably have been fine with a few more weeks development.  In this area Nintendo, for better or worse, is still at the front of the pack.

Its not 100% smooth all the time but its tons better than its competition which is very ironic. At least theres still one developer than knows how to properly launch a game

I understand that both Sony and MS has more online features and etc but lets be honest, people are paying for those features and out of all the online features all platforms offer, being able to play online is the most important one. Eventually, MS and Sony will get theirs fixed and running and when that happens, it will be better than SSB but when it comes to game launches and being able the experience the full game, Nintendo has done it again
