Well there's various Skype chats which do the same thing. Similarly Gnac was willing to make one, but there wasn't enough interest. 

Well, it's separate "channel" and people would have to agree that you are operating it there while you are not a mod on the site itself. I don't think it'd be a question of authority if it'd be clear it's "your" channel. Just nothing official, though. That said, I don't expect many users on the channel either but I'd join, of course.

Perhaps we should gather existing chats, review their popularity and usefullness and think about something or improving existing solutions?

That might be a possibility. However I'd advise starting your own thread to gauge enthusiasm for the chat rather than using this one!

But topics in general discussion don't get on the hot topics so I doubt there will be much attention for it...

THis is a person id recommend.  I know this person is very active and is on here a lot.  Well-mannered, no mod history, has mod experience, and doesnt get involved with console wars.  Also someone that will disagree with me even when i dont agree with mods so i know Raven wouldnt be biased in that category either.  ALso a very good sense of humor that will likely get along with anybody

As for IRC or IM on VGC i feel it would hurt it more than help it as it would take away from a forum that already isnt insanely large.  It would also be an issue moderating an open chat like that. Even then, those things do not relate to moderating in the first place.  Its completely seperate things
