What he said

I love Pearl Jam.
Also lots of others like Disturbed, etc. but I really don't feel like listing any of them right now :P

I would have to say Nirvana. How come no one said Jefferson Airplane?

Love the product, not the company. They love your money, not you.

Metallica (in the 80s), Tool, and Pantera.

On a slightly different, but related topic: Rock has been so awful to me for almost a decade now. Are there any good new bands out there that someone can suggest to me?

While not new bands they've only been active in the 2000s and still produce new music. Some of my favorite songs from each and the album they're from.

Avenged Sevenfold

Welcome to the Family https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AGzIcLfRMcY (Nightmare, 2010)
Bat Country - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YsZy3I6colo (City of Evil, 2005)
Afterlife - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XdVMkIVtr9U (Avenged Sevenfold, 2007)

Rise Against

Satellite - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pNv4JChWqA8 (Endgame, 2010)
Re-Education (Through Labor) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WLaKoFClGkU (Appeal to Reason, 2007)
Give it All - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vLyL0RUM-2A (Siren Song of the Counter Culture, 2004)

Shinedown

Diamond Eyes - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b6Cc8H6Mzlk (The Sound of Madness: 2010 deluxe reissue)
Devour - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YL334VQB-L4 (The Sound of Madness, 2008)
I'll Follow You -  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X_CyK3zPigw (Amaryllis, 2012)

Ah, I forgot all about Avenged Sevenfold. Bat Country used to be one of my workout songs. I haven't heard of the other two, but I'll check them out.

I am the Playstation Avenger.

Anathema also

Think for yourself, question authority

I grew up with Silverchair and A Perfect Circle.

Well they really only had one great song in "Somebody to Love",  The Rolling Stones have at least forty since their Forty Licks greatest hits album is a pretty good collection of their best songs and nobody has mentioned them yet either.
