Forums - Nintendo - Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker made by 75 people (Mario 3D World team)

3DS and Wii U both suffered from bad launches, Nintendo is not stupid enough to allow it to happen again.

Never underestimate Nintendo's ability to foul things up; after  the 3DS launch debacle they said they had learned their lesson and wouldn't let it happen with Wii U, and look how that turned out.

According to those very credits, roughly 75 people worked on Captain Toad. Wasn't expecting that many, they just delayed their next big proyect even more.

Well if people made the 3DWorld engine/assets/sound effects etc. they theoretically also need to be credited here when stuff has been reused from the Mario game right?

So I highly doubt that 75 devs/people were directly involed in the process of making this game.

Not just the engine, but a lot of assets seem to be re-used intact from 3D World, so their creators would need to be credited.

Yeah, makes sense.

My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

Yeah, but I don't think it took them much time!

I do wonder if their next project will still be on Wii U!

I think Nintendo knows that they need a killer mario at the next launch. No need to waste one at the end of a consoles life, especially when anyone who wouldv'e bought a console for mario already has one.

Lies! The entire game was made by Miyamoto himself during his bathroom breaks with a special version of Flipnote Studio.

And I can't wait for you ot be proven wrong... a new console is not launching in 2016. seriously I have no idea why you believe that so strongly.

Cause my belief is that he believes that Nintendo will be forced to do something stupid and reckless in hopes to survive instead of riding out to the end of the generation on the current hardware.

I call these people dreamers, and I feed on the broken dreams of others. :)

Soundwave has a reputation of fabricating the truth and creating FUD.

Are we sure about this? If I recall correctly, Koji Kondo was nowhere to be found in the credits for A Link Between Worlds despite having wrote all the songs that came from A Link to the Past. It might be different for composers, though.

No, I'm not sure at all, I am merely speculating.

For the record, I too expect EAD Tokyo's next major title to be a next gen release. Wii U may see another remaster or spinoff, but not the next core 3D Mario. We already got 3D World and Captain Toad. Only Wii so far has had 2 core 3D Marios, N64 and GCN had only one.

Can we really call Captain Toad a "core 3D Mario" though?

No, I worded that poorly. It's a spinoff.

I see Wii U getting just the one, like N64 and GCN. Captain Toad is just dessert.
