Forums - Sales - Global Hardware/Software Up - 1 November 2014

After this, I will only care for shipment numbers....It's obvious VGC can't track everywhere so they just prefer to put the numbers they think they're sure about it.

Sony said they shipped 13'5 until 30th September, and it's impossible they won't ship around 7 mill (at least) this next quarter, reaching more than 20 mill shipped before 2015. At this rate VGC is going to show 3 or 4 mill PS4 unsold....

UK hardware looks wrong. What caused the PS4 to go up 20% and the Xbox only 8%?

PS4 up because pre olidays, XBOX ONE...

The number are wrong IMHO...I have expect +50% XOne in UK and +30% in USA.

Do you rember those who mocked Hyrule warriors and bayonetta2 software sales and their boost...I m wondering how they feel about sunset overdrive...

Nice enough week for 3DS.

That is all.

Even the week of Bayonetta the number are strange.

I'm pretty sure that this NPD will be interesting, on waitin for the Epic NPD November...

Wow, those PS4 numbers are incredible! I don't understand how its selling so well.
X1 did good but it did have $349 bundle as well.
3DS did good.

Wait a min... can someone help clear this up for me.

  • As at the end of september 2014, sony had shipped a total of 13.5M PS4s worldwide.
  • So sony is (which coincides with some rumors earlier this year) has been shipping around 1.1M consoles per month.
  • So its safe to say that at the end of October, a total of around 14.6M PS4s had been shipped at least. Cause typically everyone starts ramping production and shipping up in october to meet the increased demand of the holiday season. But lets assume none of that happenned and sony still shipped only 1.1M average.
  • VGC tracking has the PS4 at 12.6M sold as of the end of October. That means according to VGC there are currently at least 2M PS4s ON SHELVES
  • Where as every other console has no more than 1.5M consoles on shelves. According to VGC tracking.
  • So basically, the best selling console for the past 12 months is seemingly having the hardest time selling its shipped hardware
Please, and this is a sincere question so I would like someone who knows more about this stuff to help me understand why. Is there something extremely wrong with the PS4 tracking? Like something is just very very very fundamentally wrong with how the PS4 is tracked here at VGC. That's why as of the time when sony announced they had sold 10M consoles VGC was undertracking the PS4 by as much as 1M consoles. Is it just getting worse? Cause these numbers just doesn't make sense at all. I can even come up with a possible scenario by which these numbers make sense.

Ouch at those sunset UK sales. Was hoping for 35k at least

Bayo2 held up decently!

Seems to be following more or less the same path as the Japan release;

Japan FW: 37k, second week: 7.8k.

US FW: 121k, second week: 27.3k.

Europe seems to have experienced a much sharper drop, it seems like the EU region and NA will behave more differently from one another this gen than last.

yes it's severly undertracked and probably always will be. But fair dues to Sony they still have a nice boost from China to come from next year which will be the icing on the cake!

BTW when Sony announed over 10M sold VGchart did adjustments but not nearly enough to meet Sony's numer. So even after E3 they were a few hundered k under tracked.
