When's october NPD?
My prediction threads:
Wii U will sell under 40m units (made on 14th September 2012)
PS Vita will sell under 20m units (made on 30th September 2012)
Wii U will sell under 7m in 2013 - I was right

Whose expectations, mine or Microsofts?
I always expected the game to fail, as it seemed awful from my personal perspective, and I hoped that most people would share my feelings.
I expected it to fail from the day the release date was announced, which I stated here on several occasions. It was originally a date when it would have had to face Battlefield Hardline and AC: Unity. But then those game got postponed, and SO had the next-gen stage all for themselves for an entire week. I revised my expectations from bomb to just failure then.
To be the only new release (outside a very niche, indie game Lords of the Fallen), and to sell so poorly should definitely fall below Microsoft's expectations. They put it in a lucrative slot, bet the game to sell systems (which it also failed to do).
This level of sales would be expected from an unpromising game given a late January or an early July slot, but a "prime-time" game should definitely be expected to sell much more than this...

Google own the worlds most popular search engine, they make miles more money on ad revenue than competitors because of that. They are in a stable position to do what they want while you have yahoo losing money and Bing buying them out. Same thing here. Greater hardware marketshare leads to greater software sales. This isnt going to be microsofts last console. However if they sell 40 million less than PS4 globally lifetime, there will be conversations coming up saying "should we bother creating a new console when we know PS5 is coming out around the same time and has the momentum from PS4, we (microsoft) dont need xbox to be succesful" |
And Sony owns the most popular home console market this generation while the Xbox One is currently outselling the Wii U.
Don't be surprised if Microsoft is only sticking around the next few gens to see if Nintendo gets smaller and is willing to join Microsot game studio.

Do not a expect a huge undertracking(vgc is quite good) ...:P a posibble 40k like with hyrule warriors fw in USA:P(wish to not be overtracked like forza horizon was)...

Mario Kart Wii is still selling well. Man, that title is a beast.

oooooh...!wait, October ;) This week belongs to October and actually it is October(only one day of november,the first is in this week):P
SO seems undertracked as well as the PS4. Next week is when things get interesting!
