Forums - Nintendo - How would Nintendo Fusion work?

So for a few months now we have heard of a rumor that Nintendo's next gen system would be a combination of its handheld and console, Nintendo Fusion.  Many of us here expect it to happen, but I still don't understand how it would work.  So what do you think?  Keep in mind this was never confirmed by Nintendo so please use your imagination to its fullest extent!  Also be as detailed as you can!

Perhaps the core of the system itself can be detached and carried around.  But, it can be docked to a unit that allows it to be displayed on TV.  I imagine that it supports standard controllers, but the brains itself are self contained to the portaible unit. Also gameplay can be streamed to to the TV if  you use the detachable portable as a controller.   They can be paired together using NFC so you can take it over a friends house and use it like and Amibo  Your saved data can be uploaded to a friends and seemless connected as a second controller.

Edit also, if you are watching a movie on your TV, you can detach the portable and carry it into another room.

So, the way it works is that you will have two platforms with similar architecture, just the handheld one will be less powerful than the console one! What that will do is significantly decrease development time while increasing the amount of games output cause instead of teaching developers two different types of coding with two different architecture, they only have to teach them one and it should simplify game development for the respective platforms.

So you have that but the place where Fusion truly works is magic is when you buy both platforms for you see, when you buy both the handheld and the home console, you can fuse them together and it will transform into this robotic sex toy powered by QoL! It will not only increase your quality of life by having sex with you in a daily biases but it will teach you new tricks that you have never seen before due to the power of the cloud! So, as you can see, Fusion will truly be the ultimate gaming and sex platform when it gets released! And don't even get me started about those holographic fatal frame nude dlcs!

So putting aside what makes Jizz..... jizz, are you saying that from the consumer's end they are not really fused except for the fact that buying a game for one gets it for both?

I dont think it has anything to do with the hardware..imo what this is all about is the software they are probably trying to create games for both systems without canceling each other out. I mean it is Nintendos biggest problem and you can see that by just looking at the Wii U and 3DS right now.

This would put it dangerously close to the Vita-PS3 relationship. It's a lot more likely than other suggestions I've seen though.

It's already pretty much confirmed that the next handheld/home console pair will have similar operating systems. I wonder how that will affect Nintendo's output -- will there only be one Mario Kart game, shared between the two? What other games will be shared?

From my understaning, the fusion rumor suggested two consoles: home console and a handheld. And not some sort of hybrid.

Its not really a rumor (to my knowledge), just a lot of people spitballing after hearing some statements by Nintendo about "connectivity".

Basically, it is whatever you want it to be. I personally think the hybrid path is the only good one, but to each his own and whatnot...

Well, all I think that will happen is that, they will continue to follow the same Console/Handheld structure they have been following for decades. They have two platforms and each platform will get its own exclusive version of the games like MK7 and MK8 cause that model has worked for them for decades so I see no reason for them to stop now. Sure, sometimes the console part hasn't worked out for them like the wiiU but when it does work, like the wii, it works extremely well cause they basically get heaps of cash from two sources instead of just one! And even the wiiU is now making them profit so its not exactly so bad...

So yea, I think the fusion part of the fusion concept will just be the similar architecture cause thats really been the only difference between the handheld and the console in their past. I am curious on how its gonna work though cause what works on mobile doesnt really work on console and what works on console doesnt really work on mobile due to that power issue so having the exact same architecture on both mobile and console will be interesting if they are thinking about third parties. x86 sucks on mobile cause it requires so much power but its great on consoles cause consoles can provide that much power, Arm works great on mobile cause it doesnt need that much power but sucks on consoles cause its not as great as x86 and third parties only want x86 for consoles
