Sony's losses were due to "writing off goodwill", the author might want to look up what that means and why/in what situation a company would do that in order to have a better understanding of the situation
Well console wise Sony is doing better, but overall as a company MS is doing better obviously.(Nintendo is doomed of course)
Weird article...
Yet another example of why video game journalism is an absolute joke...
Well this is a sales sitet. Still though, I don't see the point on going on about Sony's losses. It's common knowledge that their situation is dire. They report their losses all the time. It's nothing new. Microsoft is just one of the biggest multi-billion dollar conglomerates on the planet. Of course MS is doing WAY more better than Sony. They always have.
Minimizing PlayStation's success to their parent branch's losses is getting tiresome. Also just because Microsoft has billions, doesn't mean that the Xbox branch themselves has unlimited money to spare.

Microsoft makes more money than Sony.

| Mummelmann said: Interesting take? For someone to point out Sony's financial issues as a corporation and how this can affect the gaming division? Yeah, I think this is the first time I've read anything on the subject. |
It must be interesting, as you have read it. The reason I thought it was interesting, is that I too thought it was laughable that author determined that M$ could just outspend Sony and therefore bypass consumer desires. Is this an original idea? Of course not. He probably read it in a forum like this one. What really made it interesting is that he basically just says it without providing a basis in proof.
It is near the end of the end....
| cannonballZ said: So, according to this article and the author's point of view, Xbox One will win simply because MS has more cash. Yea, we'll see how well that plays out. |
Yes, Sony has financial issues. But I remember the days when the original Xbox was first announced. Some claimed that the Xbox's success over the competition was guaranteed because of a) deep pockets and b) it was an "American" console. All I have to say is "Nope."
Thank Christ Sony are in trouble. Clearly great success means you lose a generation.
This IS Video GAME Chartz isn't it?
The PS5 Exists.

I think people need to stop thinking about Sony as mainly Playstation.
