Where is this?  Also, horrifyingly big sounds just right lol.   On a side note,   The next step up from there is impossibily big (aka No Man's Sky)

Check this url: https://store.nintendo.com/ng3/browse/productDetailColorSizePicker.jsp?productId=prod150200

If it ever becomes available, that's where it'll be.

Xenoblade's main story takes 2.5 times that long.

Having more content doesn't automatically make a game better. There's nothing wrong with a 40-hour RPG (obviously more with sidequests). The Last Story only takes about 20 hours to complete, and lots of Wii owners loved it.

Monolith Soft are aiming for an enormous game world with a massive amount of content. However, it's entirely possible that Xenoblade X will also have a 40-hour main stroy, with loads of optional content. We don't know enough about either of these games yet to make a conclusive judgement, but my impression is that SE and Monolith Soft don't have the same design philosophies or goals with their projects, which will lead to Monolith Soft's game being "larger."

All good points.  FF has always put alot of emphisis into high quality assets and Monolith Soft has always been true to their namesake.
Can't wait for both!

1) Higher quality assets take up more space, but the PS4's blu-ray discs are limited to 50GB just like Wii U's. Of course, there's nothing stopping S-E from making a multi-disc game. However...

I didn't think about that. Good point. I doubt XCX will be pushing 50 gigs, but... I suppose it's possible.

i prefer a smaller world and more detailed then a huge world that is ugly with garbage textures and almost no AA.

Your not talking about XCX right? (a huge world that is ugly with garbage textures and almost no AA)

o.O?

FF XV's world will most likely be bigger due to be being on more powerful hardware though X is 5 times better than the first game which is nice.

Your logic is backwards. The more powerful hardware makes it less likely for FF XV to have the bigger world for two reasons:

1) Higher quality assets take up more space, but the PS4's blu-ray discs are limited to 50GB just like Wii U's. Of course, there's nothing stopping S-E from making a multi-disc game. However...

2) ...the creation of a more detailed world costs more money. This was the reason why towns, among other things, were scrapped during the development of FF XIII which ultimately meant that the biggest JRPG of the seventh generation was on the Wii.

You make very compelling points but you aren't accounting for things like data compression and the consoles HDD.   Still very valid points.  Money is always a factor and more assets and detail are more expensive.  At the end of the day, I would love to know how much FF15 cost to produce... over the course of nearly a decade of development mind you.

Kind of off topic, but having played Shadow of Mordor recently, I realized how important the variety of the environment is. SoM has medium sized, detailed world. But the environment is always the same. That took away so much from the game sense of exploration and adventure.

I kind of felt the same way about Destiny.  One thing I adore about FF games is the variety of enviorments.

Heyyy, you got an avatar! Nice. :P (First thing I noticed.)

I haven't finished TLS yet, but my point stands. IGN named it the 10th-best Wii game of all time... one spot ahead of Xenoblade.

I like this direction of conversation. I always feel this way when I see Skyrim -- everything looks the same. Even the dungeons all look the same. I haven't been able to delve into the FF series properly yet, but Xenoblade had amazing variety to its locations and I expect the same from XCX. It will be tough to match how Xenoblade in that regard though -- every location felt iconic because you knew its place on and significance to the "larger picture," the titan you were walking on.
