i agree with Kerotan, it might be early in november but if Sony doesnt do something now their gonna lose this NPD, and USA is a big market and therefore Sony should pay attention to this and react now before half of november is gone.

Well... Again, thats argueable... Cause if they make profit while selling consoles + ps+, it will = more profit than making 0 while selling consoles and only ps+. And its not like they make $60 on ps+ cause they do have to give games for free so they do lose some potentical sales.
My overall point is that, according to pachter, on a full $60 USD game, Sony/MS makes $12 per game. So, in order to get about $50, they need to sell 4 $60 retail games on their respective platform (for third party games that is since they sell the most on these consoles). So, if they can sell a console with guaranteed profit of $50, that means that they have to rely less on consumers having to buy at least 4 fully priced games in order to give them the same amount of profit (again, third party).
So, imo, I don't think its that nessesary for them to do so this year but next year, sure

US Is not just big, its just the loudest. Will be expecting countless threads about this news in the days ahead. I dont think sony should make a counter deal though, its not like they have killer games this holiday like MS/Nintendo. They can do all that next year and they already have a comfortable selling lead, why go desperate? Let the stores do the deals and they just make PSN/Game deals instead IMO
With all the price cuts, bundles and discounts MS deserves to win the holidays honestly. Would be a critical bummer if it doesnt

It's not quite that. It's $250 after you trade in an Xbox 360 at the Microsoft Store.

i agree with everything you say I just dont see SOny doing any of that. It looks like they've gone profit over sales but if they don't do a far cry and gta bundle they will lose a lot of profit. |
Well, I think it's pretty clear that stores will be doing a $349 PS4 SKU for BF weekend. We'll have to wait and see if Sony does it for the rest of the holidays, though. My guess is they will most likely just come out with some really good bundles, most likely at a $399 price. I fully expect the GTA5 PS4 bundle to be announced for the US in a week or two, as well as a LBP3 bundle.
Of course, if I was Sony, I would drop the price permanently and seal the sales race in the US this holiday. I wouldn't go a full $50, but a cut to $369-375 should definitely be enough to cut into the sales the XBO is seeing, now.
Sony does have that GTA V bundle. And I don't think Sony has to worry too much though. PS4 is the more popular console worldwide.
This has only been going on for a few days right? Where are the Debby downers who came to the Hyrule Warriors thread and said "call me when it hits Amazon top 100 for 2014?" Or better, the guys who were saying "can we please ban Amazon Hourly?" Funny how that all vanished suddenly. It's like we stepped out of a time warp into March 2014 with the Titanfall bundle.
Anyway, increased momentum is good, but these threads feel rather premature. Give it a week or so to see 1) if it is maintained and 2) if Sony does anything to counter. Bayonetta 2 sat near the top for longer than these bundles have (so far) and still hasn't charted on the top 100 annual lists.
I don't know what Sony is doing, but my thinking is they don't want to announce deals too far ahead of availability. GTA V is coming Nov 17th. If Sony announced a great deal on a GTA V bundle now, then PS4 sales would slow down until then.
Really, Microsoft has gone all out at the start of November. Three new bundles (more if you count ACU+Kinect), bundled games at $350, $100 trade-in offers. This is about as good as Microsoft will get, so maybe it isn't the smartest thing for PS4 to spend money competing head-to-head with that. Maybe waiting a bit will actually be better. Who knows?
I pulled the trigger and got one of these $250 Xbox Ones ($350 minus $100 trade-in). So far though I feel like I got what I paid for (it's worse than my PS4 in almost every way).
