Forums - Gaming - Framerate issues that seemingly add to the feel of a game

So, I'm one of those people who has loved Hyrule Warriors. But part of that is a curious thing I've noticed.

Sometimes, when there's a lot of foes on-screen that you attack all at once, the framerate takes quite a significant hit... and yet, somehow that's something that seems to add to the feel of the game. It's almost like the game is going into slowdown to further emphasise what's happening, rather than just a matter of the game engine reaching its limit.

Has anybody else come across this feeling, either in Hyrule Warriors, or in another game? The feeling that framerate issues actually help, rather than harm, the feel of a game?

Framerate issues definitely added to the tacky, unappealing feeling of GTA5 for me

That's an interesting aspect that you like.

Now that you mention it, sometimes, an explosion causing the framerate to drop can make the explosion seem more "cinematic" and powerful. Maybe It's more tolerable there because I'm usually not in control whenever such a large explosion would happen.

But other than that, I never want my framerate to drop while I'm in control.

I always tell to my friends sometimes a weird one likes bad things (yeap like really really ugly)...

Wicked Weaves in Bayo2 tank the framerate but then it feels appropriate, like a slow motion tank charging through your living room.

WWHD splosions come to mind...

This reminds me Perfect Dark in the N64 playing in combat simulator with just explosive weapons, the fps was ridiculous, but it was good... good times.

I know... my English sucks.

When I play Touhou, and the framerate drops when I'm trying to graze...

...Let's just say that shit hits the fan.

I WON A BET AGAINST AZUREN! WOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

:3

Just to be clear...

Slow motion (to look more cinematic and all) is different from framerate drop... the slow motion happens at the actual framerate wothout any drop.

Like I said... some guys like to well date some ugly things.
