They don't need to do a single thing. They will though, because retailers want as much sales as possible.

retailers may well drop PS4 prices themselves

There's nothing Sony can do at this point. Xbox One has all the momentum. With today's news of yet another security breach, the lack of must have games and content and the unreliability of PSN, its plain to see that the ps4 is not the way to go. However, with Xbox One, you can enjoy the years hottest games and combine it with the power and security of Xbox live. That's a winning combination that gamers just cant get enough of. Thank you Microsoft. We are humbled.

LMAO how much MS paying you???? Not a shred of reality in your post. Sony has MS where they want them.

he's a Browns fan.  He's probably been driven mad by that kind of torture for 2 decades

Sony don't need to do anything for Xmas. PS4 will be the hot product for Xmas as it has been since its release.

It certainly will be a hot product this holiday. However, Sony could also do more to slow down X1 sales.

For example, PS2 had significant price cuts with no real competition. But those were also better times financially.

They don't need to slow down X1 sales because the only way the X1 will catch up to PS4 sales in the US is if the PS4 sells 0 units over holiday period.

That aint going to happen. All the kids want the PS4 for Xmas and so do their friends.

You've missed the point.

I gave you an example of PS2 competing even though Xbox and Gamecube had no chance of catching up.

Its not that Sony should be concerned about X1 catching up. They could simply do more to slow down X1 sales. Hence. make their competition smaller.

Brand Loyalty is a myth. The fact that the US is so volatile, means that it can switch either way when it is so close especially the Holidays.

i also hope SCEA is very aggressive this holiday. they should go for the jugular and let xbox bleedout and die.

i'm glad that sony is have that december event. i really hope they can show off that playstation has a ton of exclusives coming already in the spring time while xbox is (again) going to have a lull of nothing but third party.

This is exactly what I am talking about. With PS1 and PS2 Sony fought, and they never sat back. I want to see this same competitive fire with PS4. I want the attitude that they are the only game in town, and we will do what it takes to make sure it stays that way. All while doing it in a way that creates a good balance between profit and consumer friendlyness. Those are the kind of moves they need to make as a company to get back to making money.

Sony has no need to be defensive. They can get away without doing an official price drop this holiday. PS4 has the momentum and word of mouth. All it really needs is some good bundles and retailer promotions.
