The PS4 has a 1m lead in the US. The XBO cannot possibly make that up with one holiday unless Sony just stops manufacturing PS4s all together.

I agree. Also, it's way more important to sell better than the competition all year long rather than for just a month or two, even if those months are November and December. I expect PS4 sales to remain high after holidays while sales for the X1 will severely drop off like the beginning of this year.

Sony needs to be offensive. They have the ball, and a huge lead. MS just put up a massive defense. Sony needs to take the ball down the field and score. This is not the time to run the clock down and just accept a win, this is the time to blow out a weaker competitor.

In the USA that $50 dollars is a huge difference. It will not mean XBO passes PS4 USA LTD, but it swings momentum over to the XBO, and Sony can not afford to loose the momentum they have.

I think at this point Sony has to win the one battle they can win. They are stuggling in mobile phones and tablets, they are just about out of the TV buisness. They are failing in just about every other division, and they need at least one product to keep them alive. Playstation can be the life boat, they can reach shore, and build a new ship, but they can not let the life boat drift off course.

I am just unconvinced the momentum will change much at all.  MS has cut the price before and bundled the living crap out of the X1 - and yet it has never made much of a difference, especially long term.  

In my opinion, $350 isn't when it finally makes a difference.  $300 is what I  believe they need to achieve (At least).

No GTAV bundle like Europe and Japan? WTF?

I really doubt sony will win the holiday battle in NA if they don't do some price cutting. This year MS has better price/value and better games. People here are overestimating sony based on september results, but in september there was an important and heavy pre-ordered exclusive bundle.
