Pokemon is Nintendos COD, but it somehow gets away with it.

The games are years behind from a technical standpoint even for the 3DS, go to youtube and look at a Yokai Watch 2 video, the game looks way better than Pokemon X/Y. I've heard that the framerate on Pokemon X/Y (and ORAS) is pretty poor too, so the games aren't even optimized well.

Like to admit or not, but the games do not change all that much, you get a bunch of new Pokemon every gen but the core game is always the same.

Pokemon releases almost every year now.

And there are probably more comparisons that can be drawn, so I really cannot understand why anyone would use Pokemon as an example for how Nintendo treats its franchises better than other publishers.

It has the best online function for a Nintendo game.

Ironically, that also makes it a lot like COD.

Pokemon probably gets away of it because there's a lot of post game content and the single player (although very similar to other) is pretty meaty as well.

Well they are remaking 2d Pokemon games to 3d. Wind Waker had some small tweaks but was mainly an HD version that kept the same basics with more bloom (though it was great fun but so was the original). Twin Snakes is preferred by some but many prefer the original. REmake is the definitive remake for many but it was done by Capcom like Twin Snakes was done by Konami. The Pokemon ones are nice but they're pretty much the only ones I'd say set Nintendo apart. Can't wait for the Ratchet and Clank Reboot Remake

So it always being an almost yearly franchise makes the whole thing better?

bolded: That is not a fact, it's nothing but an opinion, the games get bigger and more bloated with every installment with the developers trying to cram more and more stuff in there. You cannot factually say that the games are getting better with every installment because of that, for me for example the games have long become way too big to even try and start one again.

The reason Pokemon gets away with it is actually that it played a huge role in the generation that now mainly populates the internet, millions of people grew up with it and actually played it for the larger part of their life. The CoD craze only really started in 2007 on the other hand and people were basically already sick with it in 2010 or so.

And Pokemon is a cash-in, period. The freaking studio that makes these games consists of 73 people, think about that, the studio that almost yearly churns out one of the biggest franchises on earth is only 73 people strong. If they really cared that much then they could easily higher some coders to maybe get the Pokemon games up to snuff from a technical standpoint, but they don't have to because people don't mind as long as it's Pokemon.

Nintendo does make the best, but other gems have been produced before. Also I am not an XBOX fan but honestly I think the Master Chief Collection looks kick ass!

The games getting better is his opinion, that's correct. However, not only his opinion, but the opinion of the majority who play it.

Look at the metacritic user scores, the reviews or whatever else you like to look at. The vast majority seems to like the games, so where exactly is the problem? Metascore and User Score for Pokemon X / Y are both at around 88. That's not even close to being bad.

Call of Duty on the other side gets terrible user scores (~2,0) since a few years. The games still sell well, but it's declining slowly.

Also, games getting too big is a reason not to get into a game anymore? That's a negative now? Are you actually serious?

The cash in part is correct, but people do like the games. They could be better from a technical standpoint, but why even bother if people like the games like they are? That would be money wasted for nothing. I don't need to tell you that they want to make as much money as they can. They are a company after all!

I played every single mainline pokemon game and my opinion is also that the games got better with every new release. Not only graphically, but also gameplaywise and storywise (X / Y being an exception on the story part).  I really don't mind them putting out a game a year. Ubisoft does the same with Assassins Creed and people seem to love the games! As long as the games are good, I really don't mind companies putting out new entries every year.

I'm going to guess that that's a bullshot.
