Forums - Gaming Discussion - Why is PS4 still outselling the X1 in America?

Because last gen was an exception playstation dominate USA before xbox360

PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m

Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m

The real question is why would you buy a XB1 at all?

It's less powerful with no hope that it gets better. Most games are multiplats, and will look better on the PS4.
XB1 has very few exclusive franchises that makes it a must buy. Halo, Gears,...
And with a wider install base, the PS4 will be the reference platform for devs, and will get the most indies and exclusives.

They will know Helgan belongs to Helghasts

Whoops.. Too many great games x{

I just copied the list though

Edit: Fixed :D

Consumer trust is a devastating thing to loose and its effects can linger forba long time... In the end though i think that xbox one numbers in NA represents its actual brand power. Everything can be explained when looking at history. If you look at ps2 vs OG xbox the numbers tells you that price was insanely important. Selling 150 million units has to create some amount of brand loyalty. At the ps3 vs 360 era, xbox catched up because of intial ps3 price. This lead to a network effect for x360 where t he later adopters chose it because their acquaintances were on it. It was a snowball effect and so we are left with this. No price advantage this time aeound for either. Brand loyalty from precious numbers indicater. And now we see how the network effect doesnt really have that big of an impact in terms of brand preference. The early adopters chose ps4 and this is the modern snowball effect as many 360 owners have switched to ps4 sowing doubt in the upcoming purchasers of what to get. It is really just a sub effect of word of mouth and it is more powerfull than any first party release out there. The one thing that xbox has going for it is that NA appears to be far more platform agnostic than EU and JP. Changing the consumer perception will be easiest in NA. Mircosoft needs to focus on its home turf as europe and japan is too far gone. They might also be able to use the early introduction in china to create allegiance to their brand. Of course people can still import from other regions but having your product in a physical store can benefit you greatly since a lot of consumers value convenience a lot more than before.

Surely secret sauce #62 is right around the corner.

This brings up another good point: Sony's strong presence in all conferences. They were very strong and consistent with their messaging in E3, Gamescom, and their 2 pre-TGS conferences. As for Microsoft, after a good E3, their performance declined and was non-existent during TGS. Not to mention, Sony will be holding Playstation Experience this December to close out this year.

I agree with this completely,  because of this maybe this could force Microsoft to build up its first party games thus showing a more positive light to its brand kinda like what Sony did with the ps3

There are more Multiplats then Exclusives. as long as the exclusives doesn't interest the majority of gamers.. they will pick the system with the best versions until there will be a game good enough to convince them to buy another system. Most people have already settled with two consoles. one for Multi and exclusives and the other just for the exclusives.. it works for some. Loyalty also dies quick

PSN: Opticstrike90
Steam: opticstrike90

because unlike Japan on Europe(more or less just Japan) America has no brand loyalty, whatever is the "hottest" console get America's attention.

For me, Guilty Gear Xrd is the exclusive I'm waiting on this year on Playstation 4.

Releases December 16th, been playing the hell out of the demo and love it.
