1. So Irvine remembers growing up with everyone right? So when they met, wouldn't he be like HEY SQUALL WHAT'S UP?! Wouldn't he mention it at some point... like when he was supposed to kill his adoptive mother? I know Squall and the others didn't remember, but it's not like Irvine would have known that immediately. He would have brought it up, and they'd be all like "wtf".

2. Wait... so they have no idea where they grew up or anything about the first 5-10 years of their lives? Isn't that something that they'd be curious about? Can't they like ask around? Shouldn't the Garden have that information on file, considering they grew up with the headmaster?

3. This weird gardenmaster guy (norg?) had enough support to wage a war in the Garden. And yet, nobody seems to particularly concerned when you kill him.

4. Why is it that Irvine is assigned to kill Ultimecia? Wouldn't it make a bit more sense for the military organization to send someone more experienced?

5. Gunblades. Not exactly a plothole, but it sounds like something a second grader would come up with. Even if the vibration somehow made the blade more impactful, having a pistol grip would be unnecessary and impractical.

Just some thoughts.

1. They went to the Garden's when they were like 6-8, there is a chance they wouldn't recognise each other, or at least Irvine wouldn't be sure.

2. I got no answer to that one, however I do remember basic maths yet I don't need records to tell me I went to school once.

3. It was faculty vs SeeD/students, no Norg, Faculty didn't fight.

4. SeeD is there to protect against Sorceress, Irvine at that point wasn't stopping Ulimecia, just Edea. Who was basically taking over, a military leader was helping with a covert operation.

Ocarina of Time: Pulling the Master Sword causes Ganondorf to enter into the Scared realm, which caused him to take over Hyrule. Why did Link pull the Sword if he was trying to stop Ganondorf?

At the beginning of Demon's Crest Firebrand can barely float a few metres over the ground, then when you finish the first stage and go to the world map he has no problems flying. It wouldn't be so noticeable if one of the items you have to find to progress in the game wasn't a crest that allows him to fly up.

Please do tell because I never got the chance to play the DLC. The curiosity as to how Ellie could pull off emergency surgery is killing me.

Well, apparently, Ellie has done stuff like that in the past. It's not exactly surgery but in the DLC, you have to go find medical supplies so you can save him. You play as Ellie in the DLC. It doesn't give the best explanation but they do provide one

"I work as Paramedic in a busy 911 system so I can give you my medical opinion.

The chances of Joel surviving his fall and not recieving immediate medical assistance and I mean immediate is slim to none.  There are crazy circumstances were people do survive those things.  I have seen someone get shot in the head and survive somehow, so it is not impossible but incredibly unlikely.  When Joel was impaled in the abdomen you assume he did not hit any large organs or anything vital.  But beyond that your talking about big time blood loss, he had no time to attempt to stop the bleeding because he was fighting enemies.  You also run the risk of that rod he was impaled on going through your spine and paralyzing you if not killing you.  Then you worry about infection, sure Ellie got him antibiotics but the amount she got would not come close to resolving that infection.

He fell on a rusty, filthy rod and had an open abdominal wound for who knows how long.  He would need very strong IV antibiotics, I stress the word IV and a tons of fluids and a long hospital stay to recover and thats on the off chance that he would survive to begin with.  So your answer from me is the chances of him surviving the initial fall is extremely slim, surviving without getting immediate medical attention, nearly impossible.  Surviving the infection from the rod without very powerful antibiotics, impossible.  So as you see, survival for Joel would be a medical miracle."

That whole sequence of events disturbed me more than anything else. My suspension of disbelief broke at that point. Other than that though, story's pretty good and it has one of the most powerful opening sequences I've ever seen (although a bit contrived). Really pulled me in.

The biggest plot hole of all time though is when Bowser Jr. is introduce in Super Mario Sunshine.
