Not that I really care about this back and forth, but I do have a question.  What defines a mainstream game?  At what point do sales say 'mainstream' versus 'niche', if we're talking 5+ million units...how is that mainstream?  And really, when you get down to it, aren't there like a paltry handful of games that could be considered, as such?  Gran Turismo, CoD, BF, TLOU, GTA, Halo?  Even then...none of those games even sell to half their user base...so I'm just curious how people define mainstream?

Brand recognition. Mario, Halo, Zelda, CoD, Battlefield, GT, GTA, FIFA etc. Games for which, when saying the name, the vast majority of people will know of right off the bat. These games are also usually annualized and carry a very big playerbase all on their own and will, at times, be the only game owned for the console or are hyper-sellers like GTA, Destiny, CoD.

LBP is in the same space as DKC.

Alright, fair enough.  Makes sense.

It's a system seller.

Just like that, Sony insured victory for Europe in November.

Looks like the rumored marketing deal turned out to be true.

Don't underestimate the Microsoft stuff guys.

- MCC XB1 bundle + Sunset Overdrive exclusive
- COD XB1 bundle

And GTA5 is also on XB1.

Sony really need something more for the holidays because I expect Microsoft to have very low prices, probably $399 (maybe less) for the Halo bundle.

MS are already going with low prices, TV advert just on was £329 now in UK....

Sunset Overdrive I am afraid is not going to sell that many new consoles, its just not a game that I feel appeals to a wide audience. So that leaves COD and MCC, both which will definately help... but Sony will have GTAV and LBP and Farcry, so i think they are in a better place.

All this and the Playstation exclusive Gulty Gear Xrd is my most anticipated title.  I know it's niche, but it is so beatiful on the PS4 it should be marketed with holiday adds, even if it's a quick glimps.

Look at the Amazon bestsellers list in USA and European countries. People really like GTA V, and they would really like the definitive version of GTA V as well.

Don't see much aside from the ranking of a years old, popular game. I am asking if people still care about GTAV in the sense that they'd go out and buy a console over it. This isn't GTAV as it released a year ago, this GTAV as a port for a game everyone and their dog has already played out. (I guess, this is more a highlight of the PS4 simply lacking anything over the holiday as a major seller aside from this, but its not even exclusive. M$ has at least one new title its pushing (?) and the *other port* in MCC as well as still having GTAV available.)

Well, either way, it will be interesting to watch the pissing contest between X1 and PS4 this holiday.

lol

LBP is a bigger franchise then anything MS has but HAlo, let that sink in for a big.

Eh?  I love LBP, don't get me wrong...but Gears has sold 8 million more, as a franchise.

Define last?  If you mean the Karting (.71m), no, if you mean the Vita version (.83m), no.   If you mean LBP 2 (3.19m) which has been out for 2 years longer than Gears of War Judgement, then yes, you're correct.  Judgements only been out since last year.

dont kid your self, judgement is never catching up sales wise.   Im willing to bet with digital even the vita version probably out sold the last Gears.  Vita version.

Who's kidding who?  The last LittleBigPlant titled game, sold officially less than the last Gears, by half.  If you can produce some digital numbers to back up your claim (you can't, Sony doesn't release them), you may have a case.  But, you can't, so...here we are.  Now, if you want to be truly fair, and say the last numbered Gears game, versus the last numbered LBP game, Gears still wins.

As I already said, I love LBP, and I own them both, but Gears (which I don't own) has been a more popular franchise than LBP.

Consoles kid, were talking consoles in this thread.  Or should any one debating Uncharted sales see what the portabe version did since it matters so much.

Last console LPB out sold the last conslose Gears, just an unbrguable fact.  Lbp based onn relevent sales shows to be more popular then Gears till relevent sale prove other wise.
