dont kid your self, judgement is never catching up sales wise.   Im willing to bet with digital even the vita version probably out sold the last Gears.  Vita version.

Who's kidding who?  The last LittleBigPlant titled game, sold officially less than the last Gears, by half.  If you can produce some digital numbers to back up your claim (you can't, Sony doesn't release them), you may have a case.  But, you can't, so...here we are.  Now, if you want to be truly fair, and say the last numbered Gears game, versus the last numbered LBP game, Gears still wins.

As I already said, I love LBP, and I own them both, but Gears (which I don't own) has been a more popular franchise than LBP.
