Its a great achievement but that means 2/3 of their consoles were below the average.

So what your saying is MS are the best with 50% of their consoles selling above their average?? =P

Yea, PS1 and PS2 were BEASTS at the competition. Too bad the PS3 didn't do that well at launch..

They also lose billions every year
Just let that sink in for a second

Not where I was going with this thread but, has the PlayStation department avgd a loss over their lifespan? Truly I dont know, i wouldnt assume so.

What I am say is that all that money they get from PS they just lose in some other department

I think that is a fair statement and opinio however, do you have an opinion about the topic at hand?

Pretty great numbers, not many consoles break 100m

Agreed. Although the PS3 didt reach "Sony" standards  only one non Sony console ever outsold it. Which also so happened to be that companies best selling console. Sony "When it rains it lightly sprinkles"

That's a whole bunch of sales...It's obviously because they haven't had a poor selling console to bring the average down. They've never had a Gamecube or an OXB.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

FTFY. I jest I jest

Lol this is eerily similar to Nintendo's handhelds
PS2- 157m DS- 154m
PS1- 104m GB- 118m
PS3- 83m GBA- 81m
Difference of just 9m

Thats a great point. Do you think the PS2 was out of the norm and should not be counted? The way I see it you're not as good as your best performance and you're not as bad as your worst. That leave s just the PS1 which is right at about the avg.

No, there's no reason to not include the PS2 but it does skew the average. Without the PS2, the average would be much lower.
