This sexually empowered woman wants to shove her crotch in your face, and does so whenever she pleases. That is empowerment.

Maybe this is someone's fantasy, but it's not mine. I don't find Bayonetta particularly attractive. Her proportions are (deliberately) all wrong. She's not human. No, 90% of the video games being produced by this industry are male fantasies, and this is not one of them. No man in this game is empowered. The lewd camera angles do not empower the player, because the player does not control them. When you're playing an anime game and you can give the camera a low angle to see up a girl's skirt, that's male fantasy, because the female character has no power over the matter. When you're playing Skyrim and you can pickpocket a woman's clothes right off her back without her even noticing, that's male fantasy.

This is an empowered female character, and there are so few of those that the audience doesn't know what to make of it.

I didn't, but you can assume that if it makes you happy. Expressing yourself sexually is not the same as behaving as a prostitute. But why would you understand, are you a woman? lol

I know a number of women who work as sex workers and strippers, and some of them are strong, sexually empowered women who choose to present themselves this way; they are not passive victims of male dominion, they are in control of their bodies and sexuality and choose to use it to their advantage. 

What's sexist is the idea that a woman should be shamed for behaving in a sexually open manner.

Having seen the great review scores for the game going up I was very happy to see the overwhelmingly positive feedback with all reviews at the time giving the game a 9/10 or higher, bar one review from Polygon.

Over time I have had to temper myself from getting upset over review scores that may be lower than the average for a game am now anticipating. So rather than commenting on polygon I went and read the review to see why they did not like the game.

To summarize why polygon reviewed the game lower is the over the top displays of sexuality in Bayonetta 2. Having read the review I was having a hard time believing that this was the case.

To begin with the character of Bayonetta in the game is in no way subservient to any male or female character as one would expect of a character who is simply an object. Rather than Bayonetta's baring it all style overshadowing her personality it matches it perfectly in a way that really shows us her own over the top attitude and liberation.

The reviewer may have been uncomfortable with what the game was trying to do, but I believe that a game reviewers should try to review games based on their quality rather than their themes. If a game can be criticized for being to sexual than can games like Gears of War and The Last of Us have points taken off for being to violent?

Apparently you didn't read that one notorious review where they marked TLOU down for "being too violent"

I now believe I should just disregard Polygon reviews from now on as they seem to mark games down for things I enjoy.

You should be disgusted with your attitude first. Being comfortable with your body and not ashamed of your sexuallity has nothing to do with showing people your private parts. Leave it men who fantasize about women in different positions to tell you how women want to be seen.

Wrong; I held this position on the first game before it ever touched Nintendo.

The very way you use "cheapen" and "decency" is sexist; you're enforcing the chauvinist idea that a woman is somehow lessened by being sexually open.
