lol, no.

Fucking PSO on the Dreamcast on 56k modems is more social.

They have a long way to go. Text chat in a game like this would be a huge start. Why it shipped without it, Idk.

IMO text chat will kill the way the game make people meet and talk with each other.

Totally dude! Text chat in game will DESTROY the way people use.... text chat somewhere else to meet up and talk.

I mean.... typing up "hey need 2 for VoG must be 27+ with mic" in the game? Not sociable at all.

Typing that same stuff on GAF or DestinyLFG? Totally social broseph!

That spin though

I can change the question to "Did the lack of social features made you more social?"... that is the point of the OP... I just wanted to matain the original text like it was.

Not for me personally, I still only talk to my friends when playing Destiny. When I play with randoms I don't even have my mic plugged in.

Is the voice chat working now?

It will make you don't talk with others people or have any connection at all.

I do that in Warframe... I know how it works.

It is always worked for your fireteam... there is no way to play Raid/Nightfall/Weekly without a fireteam (unless you do solo)... so the voice chat works 100% in the cases of non-matchmaking.

A GAFers made another good point/question...

"How many time did you make friends from matchmaking in WoW ?"

You are making friends in Destiny, talking with them, having fun with them due the lack of matchmaking in Raid/Nighfall/Weekly.

Actually for me it is the exact opposite.  Rather than making friends in the game I am only exclusively playing those pieces with RL friends.  If there were matchmaking, and in that matchmaking (and the matchmaking already around) there were also opt-in voice chat already, I would have more ingame friends to turn to when needing to fill a hole here or there.

To answer your OP: it is not yet the social game they promised at all.

Did you play Raid/Nightfall/Weekly in a random fireteam with mic off?

I can see that working with Nightfall and Weekly but not in Raid.

PS. Yesterday I beat the Raid with a random group and after that everybody said we can play some Iron Banner now... so we playing some Crucible matches talking about a lot of things even not gaming related... it was fun and everybody give a lot of laughs... this is "social" in my view.

Short answer: Nope.

I don't see how playing with somebody via matchmaking make you be friend of him... it is the opposite in my view.

About your answer I agree... I think neither Bungie predictied how the social the game could be due the lack of social tools... it was just a good coincidence.

The Brainwashing is strong with this one.
