Forums - Gaming - Did Destiny End Up Being the Social Game Bungie Promised After All?

No, I get it just fine thanks. I play with random people too. I beat the raid the other day with 4 guys I had never played with before. To say the ability to text chat with others in the game would ruin your ability to read on GAF or DestinyLFG or GameFAQS or any other site is just illogical. It only adds another element of communication. A big one. You're still going to have the same people who need groups inviting random people. You're still going to have guys running around in the Tower looking for level 27-30 guys to invite to the raid. Only now instead of running all over the Tower and inviting every single one of them, they could just ask on their mic or type it with their controller. But I guess it's more sociable to open a browser and post it somewhere else? Dat spin.

The ability to text chat ingame will kill the ability to voice chat ingame.

Less people will be use the voice chat and more will use the text chat... this will decrease the social parties that is happening now.

GAF, DestinyLFG and GamesFAQS have nothing to do with these ingame features.

More voice chat features... no text chat features... I really want the game continue to forces you to comunitacte via voice chat.

Some people are trying too hard to make this game appear better than it is.

The rest of us will just move on to something else quite soon... or already have.

Nobody need to because the game is already Amazing for millions

Yeah kind of like how the ability to text chat has killed voice chat in other MMO/online only games?

Oh wait....

That exactly what happen in most MMOs... they guys that like to voice chat continue to voice chat but a lot of guys just use text chats because they are kind of "anti-social" (yeap a lot of gamers says they don't like to talk with people... I even faced some guys that are desisting to Raid on Destiny because they don't like to talk with people via voice chat).

So yes... it forces you to use voice chat... text chat option is silly IMO... I was in your ship until early this morning when I realized this (I even said in this forum Bungie need to adde more social features like text chat weeks ago)... I changed my mind.

WHAAAAAA?  It's been trashed more than any game since the next gen launches (mainly Knack and Ryse).  I don't even think it was hyped all that much given all the cautionary or unimpressed previews that were coming out.

and I am pretty sure you have complained a LOT about spin in the past.

But now you are saying by being less social it is more social....

this is exactly what I am saying about people trying too hard to convince others (and maybe even themselves)

No... and you better at reading compreesion than that.

The OP says that the lack or faults of Bungie with social features forced gamers to start to socialize and be more social... it is the result and not the cause.

which is spin...

Spin is trying to give excuse to something that happened but the OP is not talking why it happened... OP is talking about the result... Destiny have flaws and Bungie messed with some things but that didn't change the result is that people are being more social to play the game.

How anybody can spin something that is happening?

You can't actually say they are being MORE social since you don't have an ingame social aspect to compare it to.  What you are saying, essentially, is that if they included the social features people are accustomed to in a game like this that the players would be less social than they are now.  That's pure speculation on your part.

It can be speculation but...

There are cases enough already that show that playing tons of games with these tools have level 1 of social... now with Destiny the and the lack of these features the social upgraded to level 3.

It is not just me that increased the social discussion but a lot of guys... can it be a niche? of course but it is becoming more and more evident not just in my friend list, GAF, GameFAQs, Bungie.net, Reddit, etc... you can see in others places too.

People are more opened to be social due the lack of these features... there are guys that never touched a mic in a game (you can play any MMO or game whithout never use a mic) that are being forced to use a mic in Destiny and some are liking that.

I believe in the next weeks or months what we are talking here will be more evident in the big sites and maybe you guys will understood what is happening... or maybe not... but I'm glad I'm exposing my opinion and reading (agreeing or disagreeing) with others opinion before they internet sites started to talk about it.

Actually, Spin:

spin is a form of propaganda, achieved through providing an interpretation of an event or campaign to persuade public opinion in favor or against a certain organization or public figure.

Anyway... who says it is happening? You and a handful of gaffers?  Some might say thats speculation...but Ok then.... it must be true.  Forgive me.

You changed my mind of spin lol...  I guess it was like a lie to hide a real fact... I'm not tring to hide anything here I'm just showing what is happening due the lack of social features... people are being more opened to socialize.

Yeap... it is happening in a lot of places right now... now big it is? I don't know and can be just annedoctal.

PS. I'm a guys that have a hard time to accept the Whatsapp because the girls wanted to talk more via text messages than normal phone calls and I love to talk with everybody via phone calls because it is more well social... you have a better feeling and intime relationship woth somebody via voice chat than text chat... you create connections.
