I haven't talked to anybody on Destiny. Once I hit level 20 I got bored and stopped playing. After that you have to get lucky with shitty armor to gain levels.

I agree with your points... they need to improve the chat features... it needs to exists in the matchmaking strikes and a proximity chating is cool too... just give us the option to mute if we don't want to use it.

You can buy your armor to up lvl 29.

lvl 30 is really lucky on Raids.

If pointing at players and dancing is considered social...

IMO, this game is so damn antisocial it hurts. There's a public event, 3-4 players join forces, beat it, bow to each other and scatter back to their orbit.
You get matchmade into Crucible, run around like a chicken with its head cut off, paunfully uncoordinated, win/lise, then get booted back to orbit.

All in complete silence.

First week or two I used my Sony Pulse headset, eager to say a few words, but realizing that in space noone can hear you talk. Not even if they are 2 feet away.

And no, I don't feel like going to a website, forum or Skype to set an appointment with others so I must show up exactly at 11:15 to play, like waiting for an MRI at a free clinic.

There are more social aspects in FIFA than in Destiny.

I still enjoy the game. Play through dailies and bounties, but now with no headset, and with my TV set muted, no need for sound at all. And if I really make an effort, I think I might even play blindfolded, I've repeated the missions enough times already.

Yeah it has, the only major problem with Destiny is the first impression. The storyline is so pathetically bad that you feel like Bungie trolled you after you pass it because of how bad it is.... But if you keep playing with friends it's a good game that offers far more replayability than most and you'll meet and play with a lot more new people than you ever would on other games.

And I have done it in plenty of MMO's and console games, I know how it works. What you're arguing is that less means of communicating with people can actually make for a better experience in terms of communication. It's laughable.

Everything you described and everything people do in Destiny, be it matchmaking into parties with other people and joining up with them, finding groups of people on websites and doing raids/weekly shit, etc, would only be enhanced with text chat and more voice chat options.

Scenario One: ethomaz posts on GAF asking for 5 more 27+ with mic players to join for the raid. He gets 5 responses, finds their PSN's, adds them, invites them, they go off and play and live happily ever after

Scenario Two: ethomaz goes to the Tower in Destiny, uses his controller/headset to ask for 5 level 27+ players with a mic to join for the raid. He sees 5 replies, goes to those players in the game and adds them into his Fireteam. They go off and play and live happily ever after

Yeah dude, clearly scenario one is way more sociable.

This is just another situation where you will argue against logic for the sake of Destiny. It's entertaining to watch, but will leave you with egg on your face when Bungie patches in better communication options.

That is happening ingame playing Detiny too... people are talking and inviting others people... random people... the interaction with random people increased.

Text chat will ruins that.

I agree voice chat need to be improved... proximity voice chat will do wonders for example.

No, I get it just fine thanks. I play with random people too. I beat the raid the other day with 4 guys I had never played with before. To say the ability to text chat with others in the game would ruin your ability to read on GAF or DestinyLFG or GameFAQS or any other site is just illogical. It only adds another element of communication. A big one. You're still going to have the same people who need groups inviting random people. You're still going to have guys running around in the Tower looking for level 27-30 guys to invite to the raid. Only now instead of running all over the Tower and inviting every single one of them, they could just ask on their mic or type it with their controller. But I guess it's more sociable to open a browser and post it somewhere else? Dat spin.
