Forums - Gaming - Assassin’s Creed Dev Says Industry Is Dropping 60fps

30fps is understandable but 900p really ??? direct x is killing console already, most of 3rd party developer utilize direct x, but if its 1st party studio they will able to code close to metal and achieve 1080p 60fps with games like Assassins Creed Unity. I guess it will take time for 3rd party developer to use full capability on current gen console.

The most successful franchise last gen, Call of Duty, was praised for its 60fps.

Don't say stupid things guy.

Sure it makes little difference for 3rd person games, but for fps, racing, fighting it makes a worlds difference.

Nice trolling Ubisoft. Just stick with your annual milking of your franchises.

I'm starting to wonder what the Hell is the point of this generation of systems? 900p and 30fps? I though a new gen was supposed to mean everything gets better.

So which games out so far then could have been done to the same fidelity and performance on last gen machines?

Systems should be pushing to have the best images possible. They bring out systems that a PC can beat down. It's not like it used to be, where a new system's images blew people away. Then you have companies holding games back... That is sad

Why is it sad that an more expensive PC can produce graphics better than a much cheaper console can?  I'm failing to see the logic here.

Also, when was it "not like it used to be?"

Pretty sure when the xbox 360 came out the PC already had games like Far Cry, Half Life 2 etc which were already quite a ways beyond what the 360 could initially do (if you had the system to run them well) and its no different this time around.  The only difference is there are more PC games now than there were in 2004 etc which PC gaming was still in a growing period.

The games so far this generation could not be done on an older system, without question so it is a step forward.  If your annoyed that a £320 console cannot out perform a PC that costs significantly more, then go and buy a PC and don't worry about it.

To be fair, PS4/Xbone are not as high end for their time as PS3/360 were. Not that that's a bad thing; nobody wanted "$599 US dollars" all over again.

For future reference "queue" is the one you want. The one you referred to is mostly about pool. :P

Other than that, I agree with your statement :P

Grab your umbrellas should you get shit covered!

I wasn't sure, so I googled it before I made that comment and that gave me the spelling I used.

"cue (plural cues)

An action or event that is a signal for somebody to do something."

http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/cue

or here

I only know queue as a word for a line of people waiting for something.

Maybe you made a mistake.

Yes but they dont really need to be.  When you consider "high end" this time around on a PC then you are factoring in resolutions thats the Xbox and PS4 dont even need to worry about such as 1440p and above.  High end on a PC these days is taking gaming above 1080p rather than on it or under.  PC gaming in the main is done on a monitor where by the minimum is probably 1080p these days and more often than not now go above and beyond that.  Console gaming is still I would guess done 99.9% of the time on a 720p tv or a 1080p TV and not a 4K screen which is the next logical step up.

At the end of the day, if a console, no matter what generation it is, can outperform a PC in a similar price bracket, then it is achieving what is has set out to do.  And you cannot replicate PS4 graphics, 1080p or 900p or whatever, on a PC which costs the same as a console.

Make teh PC version 30fps for teh lulz.

The gimped the PC version of Watchdogs for the sake of cross gen consoles. The new Assassins Creed is a next gen game. There is no excuse for this.
