You forgot to add the NPC-Numbers to Pikmin 2, which brings it to 1,2 m + 0,55 m = 1,75 m. That's a long way for pikmin 3, even with digital sales.
In my oppinion Pikmin 2 was the better game anyway ...

That was a deliberate omission. I'm not counting the remake/re-release, just the original game, just like I didn't count digital sales of Pikmin 3.

Not at retail. It's sales are too slow and almost 400k is too much. There will be holiday boosts, but the game it too old for them to be significant. Nevermind if you'd include the New Play Control version.

Including digital, it will probably end up being a tie.
