That's funny, I do the same thing. Just with the first version of each game, which is why I'm getting Omega Ruby.

Alpha Sapphire was my very first main-series Pokemon game (technically Stadium was my first Pokemon game), so I have to go with Alpha Sapphire.

I have the same tradition, excluding Gold as it was the only copy in the store back when I first got that. Ended up working out well for me as I preferred Zekrom and Yvetal to Reshiram and Xerneas.
