I would really like to know how some of these comments arent modded http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=196213

Plain as day trolling as is every Rare thread. If you guys ever wonder why people stick to XBE, well there you have it.

I agree that some of the comments are predictable and don't add anything to the conversation, but there are many topics that are always shat on when they come up.  The Order 1886 for example.

It seems silly to restrict yourself to one bit of the site because of it.

Well, as someone that doesnt really have a side in the "console war", I do tend to notice a lot more negative comments in microsoft threads.  Nintendo gets hammered quite a bit too, but they have a bigger fanbase on this site, so the nintendo threads dont turn out quite as overwhelmingly negative as microsoft threads do.

So I can kind of see why they isolate themselves, but it is unfortunate.  Now I hardly ever talk to the xbox empire guys because I have a hard time wading into that monster thread.  There are some really good posters in there that I genuinely enjoy talking with!  They really should make more threads, enough positive enthusiasm can overcome all the pessimism...

People get too defensive when it comes to exclusives, even when they bomb. Imagine if people could accept or simply ignore other people opinions, what a world we'd live in!

I generally think that, but then there is always that one comment that, for whatever reason, really gets under your skin.  It is difficult not to respond sometimes

I would agree. I think it is likely that there is more negativity in Xbox threads because some of the most prominent Xbox-supporting members are not involved, and it tips the ratio between good and bad comments in a negative direction.  Effectively the opposite of what you were saying about the Nintendo threads. If you took a handful of the most prominent Nintendo and Playstation supporting users out of their relative threads, then I think it would be exactly the same.

Everyone is as bad as everyone else.

Its a matter of respect.  And when you have people that you know is overly biased anyways making comments like that then its when it becomes a problem.

Example:  If Slade said something like "Banjo Central"  people wouldnt care because its obviously a joke.  Or if Pezus said something about The Order like "Cinematics the game".  Again, obviously a joke.

However when you have people who regularly attack fanbases anyways, though i wont name names simply because that isnt allowed making these comments, that is when people get annoyed.

So its all about repect in the end.  Its like people want to be excited and these people just try to get a quick jab in as quick as possible to turn the thread around.

People are more annoyed by the bias of the comments than anything.

Ehh, a bunch of people got moderated in that thread for various reasons.

If you think we are going to moderate people for saying Rare could be working on something for Kinect, then you are wrong. Rare's output over the last 7 to 8 Years has been pitiful in terms of getting the Xbox userbase on web forums excited. Since Nuts and Bolts released in 2008, Rare has been developing games for Kinect and making Avatars, so naturally the responce to a new, unknown Rare project will be "Kinect?".

We are not going to start moderating people for sugesting a developer is making a Kinect game, especially when that developer has been pushing out Kinect games for the best part of 5 Years.

I suppsoe I agree with you here. If someone is gonna come shit on Banjo and Sunset Overdrive in the same thread, and this person is known for taking jabs at MS, then yeah you're gonna have people come in and throw punches back. Respect is a factor, and these kind of people who simply come in to get under your skin should be dealt with so that we don't have to feel like we need to defend X fanbase. But at the same time, I feel like ignoring it or simply reporting it could work just as well, unless it happens to be one of those un-touchable members in which case you're screwed :P

I read the Banjo thread, as an Xbox One owner I cared very little for the Kinect jokes because I can understand where they are coming from. But then there were some that simply crossed the line, they were no longer jokes simply statements to piss off a certain fanbase.

Of course. On top of that we have lists of people well known for fucking around where they shouldnt be. We keep posts to use against people in the future, for when they do slip up and cross the line.

On the other hand we have to be fair. We cannot moderate one guy for saying "Rare making another Kinect game?" and leave the other guy who said "Banjo Kazooie Kinect?" as both posts are simply not breaking a rule. That totally breaks the direction of moderation here

This is essentially coming down to who is making the post and problems the Xbox fanbase here may or may not have with that person. The best thing to do with that poster? Ignore the small, petty posts. Wait for them to really slip up and mass-report them. That way they dont slip through the cracks and we can hit them out of the park before they cause a thread to go south. Little things like saying a developer is making a Kinect game will not be punished, because there is a very real chance that Rare could be making a Kinect game, but them outright trolling Xbox, Rare or Kinect will be hit hard.

This post I can agree with. People need to be more respectful, not just in how/where they post but in who they are replying to.

I understand where you are coming from with your complaints and I know from personal experience just how annoying it can be when you see the usual suspects crawling out of the woodwork to poke a bit of fun at something, but if we add a whole new layer to what is and isnt allowed by specific users, then we will be hitting people with moderations for small, petty, innocent things. I dont think thats the right way to go about it.

So there are secret mod files? Sounds interesting

They're locked away in Modopolis. To keep them out of your busy hands.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

And again... from the OP:

This is not the place to ask for moderation on another user. Report said user's potentially moderatable post/thread and let the Mod team handle it from there on out.

Waaaaay too much of this going on in this thread. That's not how it works. Report the post in question. We see it, we talk about, we act on it. You move on from the report and continue to participate in the forums in a positive way. It's a beautiful thing.
