Right on the first page there is an iffy post that someone else replied negatively to and got moderated for doing so which was long before super showed up in the thread, so he may have been one of the reasons the thread got dragged off course but he wasn't the only reason and certainly wasn't the first.

As for the Starcraft stuff... maybe it would have been better if another mod had been there instead but yeah, I'd rather stay out of that

Not denying there were some negative posts. You're going to get that no matter what. But there were people that continuely were posting negative stuff in the thread. There were 2 and unbelievably one was a mod. That shouldn't be accepted. Like I said, VGC has high standards with it's forums.

I am going to leave dealing with the part of this that pertains to me to a head mod - as is procedure here. You should do the same.

But as for the high standards to which you refer, they were not present in your thread. For nearly 100 posts it had been almost entirely off-topic arguing. People were flaming one another repeatedly. VGC has high standards, in part because threads in that state get shut down.

Because of you and super6646. It's clear now that you support supper6646. So now it makes sense.

If Super6646 got moderated, you kept your negativeness out of thread, problem solved.

I am trying to help you here, but I we're clearly not on the same page.

Is it your assertion that your thread would have remained on its eventually-ascertained topic, were it not for input from myself, and later super6646?

Hello. Can you please point me to super6646's flaming? I had a pretty good look through. I could see him saying a lot of things the rest of you didn't like - but he actually seemed to be pretty careful not to flame anyone.

I believe you're referring to torilian - and we did in fact debate what it turned out was not your intended focus of the thread.

To be fair, you didn't fully articulate that purpose until well on our way to 200 posts. At which point I asked everyone to keep to the topic you had, by then, prescribed. In hindsight, I should also have asked you to update or modify the OP. But I failed to do that, so it didn't happen.

Ultimately, no other thread would have survived the level of flaming and off topic content that was occuring by the time it was locked, and neither did yours. For the record, I was the mod that ultimately locked the thread - but the lock was discussed in mod chat prior to that.

Wow! There you have it. Can another mod please go through it and tell me that super6646 wasn't flaming? If you wan't me to point to you where you should look, look at every single one of yours and super6646 posts.

I'm pretty sure I made it clear what the thread was about. Most people did, except you and super6646 of course.

That's his last 10 posts in the thread. Off topic? Yeah. But flaming? I can't see anything there that can really be classed as flaming.

Thats the view I took. I will repost the lock note I left here for those who dont want to navigate there. Essentially, I was lenient with those who were flaming, and decided to let everyone off for their off-topic posting - particularly given the prescribed subject matter of the thread changed over time.

*begins*

Right, time for this thread to die. Mods have posted requests for it to get back on topic and no one has listened.

Short bans have been given to people who flamed, as I recognize it was a heated thread.

Given just about everyone that posted in the last 10 hours was off topic, I am inclined to give everyone a pass - because if I start handing out bans they'd have to go to all of you!

Epic thread huh?

Although now that everything has calmed down (hopefully) maybe SWORDF1SH should be given the choice of whether to unlock the thread or not, providing there is a clear mod warning for the off topic arguing to stop.

I would think a better option would be for him to copy paste his list and start again if he wishes too.

I will clarify something. When I read super's posts, I disagreed with the bulk of what he had to say.

But as long as he is polite and doesn't make it personal, he is entitled to exert his opinion, and he wont be moderated for flaming.

And I will reiterate, the locking of the thread was a decision made by a number of mods - just carried out by me.

What super posted in that thread was asinine and incorrect for a large number of posts, and he was ignoring others' arguments enough that I was starting to consider if he was being willfully ignorant for trolling purposes, but I would agree with the other mods that at that time he had not crossed the line to something modable.

I probably will start again post E3. I just don't like the fact that one person got the thread locked. It's kinda shitty.  Shame that you can get close to the line like that without crossing it.

Honestly, super6646 basically jumped into the thread like this....

on page 30, when the thread was still recovering from the earlier "discussion" between starcraft and several users. Sample 1 and sample 2 of super6646's entrance into the thread.  Why did he bother posting?

To be fair, we try to take note of this sort of thing.

If a user was to be borderline in this thread, then another thread next week, and so on, we'd take note. And we'd begin to look at that as the 'stealth trolling' being discussed a couple of days ago in this thread.

But it is very difficult to moderate that and we always piss a lot of people off when we try too.

But yes, I agree that its irritating when a thread you put a clear amount of work into gets shut down. I would encourage you to use the work you did and take a second look in future!

You keep saying this. The thread is pretty simple really. List of exlcusives. Talk about list of exclusives. Help build and correct list

Looking back at thread starcraft, although I did have a few run ins with you, I remember it being more intense than I do now. I still didn't like the was you put across somethings and you had a few digs at thread topic and claimed that I already knew the results by twisting what I said. Other than that I think some of it was crossed wires and some of it you do make sense. It's actually nice to see this type of comment from you. In fact I'm feel a little sorry for being harsh on you. Shouldn't of said some of the things I said.

Still feel the same about super6646 though.
