Forums - Gaming - Ubisoft Explains Why Assassin's Creed Unity Is Skipping Wii U

Wasn't middleware supposed to solve all these porting issues?

dont you see the other side of the picture ?

I do but that doesnt make there statement here NOT true. We know Unity would not run on WIi U. Not at least without serious compromise and no one wants that right? Now can we argue whether or not this is the main reason for it not showing up on WIi U? Hell yeah. But lets not act like Ubi is telling a bold face lie they arent.

I agree theres some truth but still its not the main reason.

we have seen horrible downgrades before but that did not stop them from making it.

I just dont buy it.

it probably wasnt the main reason. And they have downgraded, but how many times? How far down? Hell they didnt even really do it for the Wii and even then the install base justified that they at least tried. Fact is the Wii U isnt going to put up the sales that would justify them having to get another team to port or make a completly different version for it.

I dont really care what reason it is.. Its obvious they are lying and that needs to stop, right ? I mean it wont stop because its business everyone is doing it so im ok with that but still saying something like this is insulting..

and what about that other AC game that can run easily on Wii U ? not enough *something..

Keiner kann ihn bremsen, keiner macht ihm was vor. Immer der richtige Schuss, immer zur richtigen Zeit. Superfussball, Fairer Fussball. Er ist unser Torschützenkönig und Held.

Can we please just stop with all of the obvious lies and just say the real reason for a game not coming to the Wii U?

Companies believe third party games won't sell. That's it. It has nothing to do with "artistic vision" or whatever. If an AC game was going to sell 10 million units on Wii U, there's no way in heck it'd be missing the platform.

but they are not lying. YOu think the game can run on WIi U? you know it cant. So they are telling the truth. ANd its not like they said it was the MAIN reason. They gavea A reason.

As for Rouge. What does it have to do with Unity? two different games. I think we can all imagine why that one isnt coming to WIi U, but again. Not much to do with Unity.

I'm not going to get into the power argument, but the fact that Ubi excludes Wii U from 'current gen' in its statement is telling. Whatever technicalities there are, Wii U is 'different' to develop for, and probably takes more time and effort for the developers to get it looking as good on Wii U as it might on PS4/X1, plus all the extra features it has to develop for the gamepad. It's just not worth the effort for the install base. I believe that's one of the main reasons why 3rd parties have turned away, and that's Nintendo's fault.

It goes back to the complete balls-up of the marketing and launch of the console. Nintendo like to innovate, but this time the innovation has bitten them in the backside. Not that I'm suggesting that Nintendo should abandon their innovative line and follow the sheep, but if they're going to stand out and be different, they've got to get developers as well as consumers to understand what they have, to make it work.

It's a crying shame, for what the Wii U could have been. But I hope they've learned their lesson.

Another Good title that has absolutely VERY FEW APPEAL to Wii U owners. This will sadly go unnoticed.

oh consumers understand it, they dont want it. They dont follow the "sheep" because they cant, thats a battle they cant win. But then again the whole being innovative is hit or miss too.

Not sure my post came across as I intended.

Consumers understood the Wii, and it was a runnaway success. They don't understand the Wii U. Many of them still don't know what a Wii U is, (a peripheral for the Wii, Gamepad is the console, etc.) when it's very clear what X1 and PS4 are, and what they do.

Nintendo could very much follow the sheep if they wanted, but have chosen not to, despite calls to ditch making consoles and go third party, get with the phone technology, etc.

Nintendo gamer's need to ACCEPT REALITY.

The Wii-U is inferior.

Nintendo needs to create an advanced game machine to support any game possible in this generation.
