it's not about how pretty their games are overall.  Not having it look better on PS4 compared to X1 is laziness and/or forced parity for a lesser system.  Same principal as if X1 version was made to look like WiiU or WiiU was held back for the sake of PS3 versions of games like AC3.  Hell what if PC was held back to force parity with PS4?  Terrible practice and it would show they either weren't trying to provide the best experience possible on each individual platform or they were simply being bought.  Same principal applies here.

I don't see why that is a problem. Why should they make a different version of the game for each console? If PS4 gets a higher resolution and stuff for being the more powerful console then surely the Xbox One version should get plenty of Kinect only features and the Wii U version (obviously not in this case, but for other games) should get plenty of features that make use of the gamepad.

That doesn't make sense to me, they are just making a game and porting it. As long as it works on each individual system at atleast a similar level then I think that's fine.

Rayman for instance, did get Wii U only features

and the Kinect isn't standard anymore so that poses a problem for some adopters.

The bigger issue is that parity didn't matter last gen, well the debates were there but Ubisoft in particular didn't care about ending them. The playing field is only being equalized when the roles are reversed.

Even if the debates were there last gen they didn't seem anywhere near as big. It just seems to have blown up this gen for some reason.

The term 'turnabout is fairplay', comes to mind.

Last gen PS3 owners were stomped on repeatedly, ad-nauseum, ad-infinitum for at least 3 years, until devs started wrapping their heads around the architecture.  They're simply returning the favor in kind.  Playground rules, as it were.

Its partly because last gen was so unique, and idiots like Ubisoft. Good Games, Stupid decisions.

I really never noticed any of this last gen. I guess ignorance is bliss.

Heh, indeed.  I won't say some of it...in part, wasn't earned though.  Sony fans were quite arrogant after the OG Xbox's numbers.  And I believe there was allot of mocking just before the 360's launch

Is it that easy though? If it was why isn't every game 1080p? Watch Dogs for example...
Also... Shadow of Mordor, a game with PS exclusive content, isn't really the best example.

I also wouldn't call resolution a feature and why do you assume they took it away? That would mean they got it to 1080p then intentionally lowered it, doesn't it make more sense to assume they aimed for 900p on both versions from the start?

You're missing the point.  I never said every game needs to be 1080p.  If all other things are equal, then the resolution on PS4 should be better.  Now if ACU has better other features on PS4 then this is excusable but I didn't see them mention that.  That extra power has to go SOMEWHERE.  The point remains that even COD last year had better res on PS4 with exclusive X1 advertising.

Why? Sure PS4 is more powerful, but that doesn't guarantee it's games will have higher resolution. Or do you think every game that gets 1080p on Xbox One should be even higher than that on PS4?

Did you read past the sentence you bolded?  I was talking about graphical effects btw and thus said the extra power has to go somewhere.  So no it doesn't have to be above 1080p it should be higher framerate if both are 1080p or perhaps little things like shadows, draw distance, foiliage, etc.

Yeah, I read it. But I don't see why the extra power has to be used. Not every game is going to use 100% of a consoles power. Give it a couple years and the current games will probably look like they used no where near 100%.

This. And most probably strategies and resource allocation for development of games to be launched this Autumn were decided long enough ago to not being able to predict PS4 could reach a user base so large to justify some extra effort already at the end of its first year. Obviously MS power can influence some decisions, but surely PS4 selling so well, if predicted in time, could have overridden them, if they weren't part of a written deal.

With people obviously unhappy that there is no 1080p version, maybe Ubisoft will react and do absolutely everything in their power to up the Xbox One version to that much desired 1080p resolution. 1080p is all gamers really want these days right? So they'll happily pick up the Xbox One version on release and enjoy all of those glorious pixels

Yes, it's possible, but at ~20fps then, because it already runs at ~20-25fps at 900p on XB1.
