Why? Sure PS4 is more powerful, but that doesn't guarantee it's games will have higher resolution. Or do you think every game that gets 1080p on Xbox One should be even higher than that on PS4?

Did you read past the sentence you bolded? I was talking about graphical effects btw and thus said the extra power has to go somewhere. So no it doesn't have to be above 1080p it should be higher framerate if both are 1080p or perhaps little things like shadows, draw distance, foiliage, etc.

Yeah, I read it. But I don't see why the extra power has to be used. Not every game is going to use 100% of a consoles power. Give it a couple years and the current games will probably look like they used no where near 100%.

This. And most probably strategies and resource allocation for development of games to be launched this Autumn were decided long enough ago to not being able to predict PS4 could reach a user base so large to justify some extra effort already at the end of its first year. Obviously MS power can influence some decisions, but surely PS4 selling so well, if predicted in time, could have overridden them, if they weren't part of a written deal.
