FFXV will be embarrassingly bad.
X will be amazing.
End of the debate, can we go to lunch now?

I think the best XV can hope for is to be underwhelming based on the hystory of Square-Enix. A look at their games like XI, XII, XIII, and XIV. Popular opinion would show most people think some are okay, while others are downright awful (the awful being XI, the XIII trilogy and the original release of XIV).

The people who hate Xenoblade are few and far between, with a lot either not knowing what they are talking about, or never really playing the game. X is destined for greatness.

Shawarma sound good?

Wow, you get some people starting fights over this one. FFXI is quite beloved.

I do find it quite ironic that you're calling those 5 games downright awful, and I'd be quite surprised if you played all of them "properly".

Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,

That's how people can become pleasantly surprised. I agree games can come back from mediocrity, look at the Xenosaga series. BUT, I don't think it's unfair to say a dev makes less than stellar games based on history, no.

I agree, but I disagree that the best we can hope for is to be underwhelmed. Like you said, the best we can hope for is that it comes back from mediocrity, which according to latest trailers seems to be heading towards just that.

The game looks (visually) awesome, the music was great, the action seemed really cool (teamwork, dashing), and the usual Final Fantasy elements are still there (gear, stats, spells).

I'm really optimistic about it personally, after I got over the fact that Final Fantasy, in its turn-based fashion, was a thing of the past.

That's what I expect, and I'm perfectly willing to be wrong.

Visuals were great, music was fitting, controlling one character that doesn't change appearances and only has one weapon type, and a class system that pretty much seems non existant worries me. It seems exactly what they did with Lightning.

I really hope you are! I think you can move from character to character, or that you can select the skills of other characters. But since I am excited for this game I'm stopping myself from knowing too much about it before I get my hands on it.

I wish I Could do that for Xenoblade X, but being so excited about it I looked up a LOT about the battle system. I would be surprised if there are too many things I didn't know about it.

Oh, and I hope I'm wrong too.

1.only has one weapon type

2.a class system that pretty much seems non existant

Wrong

" You set weapons yourself before battle. You set each weapon considering what actions you can use with which weapons. You can only determine one weapon from the ones equipped to be your main one, but that weapon will come with techniques which can be invoked at your discretion in battle. Besides the basic assault button (attack), you can invoke techniques with the technique button."

100% Speculation, nothing was revealed about leveling up / class system except for the Job System but only enemies will be using them.

That's like saying equiping a sword that inflicts fire damage makes me a mage.

Here's an unbiased take on it:

Both games will be amazing.

if we go by that "unbiased" take, then only a small minority is unbiased.

I have no idea what you are talking about. I do know that the info are lacking and not enough to discuss small details in the game. Now, move on :)

Whoops, I replied ot the unbolded and not the bolded.

On that point, true you can equip a sword that does water damage or a sword that does fire damage, but you are still just equiping swords. That is what I meant by one type of weapon. Not the fact that there is only one weapon, or that weapons would be identical.

Now you move on.

Hold on, clearing up ideas.... Not turning things into a war..... What is this madness?....

Lol, just kidding. I know where you're coming from. There will be variety with how what is equiped will handle, and I can and have been appreciating that fact for a long time. I'm moving on as well.
