Maybe not a straight up rip off but I can guarantee you that the combat in both games are extremely similar and that's not something you have to play to figure out.

It isn't even a good rip off either. FFXIIs battle system, while still very poor, was much better than Xenoblades.

What am I reading...

Neither of the two properly played both games through and through so I wouldn't be too worried.

I personally have yet to play either properly, but I never called one a rip-off of the other so it doesn't matter in my case.

How does one properly play it?

By playing it from start to finish.

How well would you judge Super Metroid if you only played until the first boss? How well would you judge the after years if you only played the first few stories?

How well would you judge Final Fantays VIII if you only played the first two hours?

Your phrasing is weird. I would say that's completing or beating the game, you can do either by playing improperly

FFXV will be embarrassingly bad.
X will be amazing.
End of the debate, can we go to lunch now?

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

Here's an unbiased take on it:

Both games will be amazing.

Play the games long enough to understand the strategy. If you can't give proper examples of what the stategy of both games are (like myself and a few others have) then you probably haven't played them enough.

I think the best XV can hope for is to be underwhelming based on the hystory of Square-Enix. A look at their games like XI, XII, XIII, and XIV. Popular opinion would show most people think some are okay, while others are downright awful (the awful being XI, the XIII trilogy and the original release of XIV).

The people who hate Xenoblade are few and far between, with a lot either not knowing what they are talking about, or never really playing the game. X is destined for greatness.

Shawarma sound good?

So because S-E made some arguably disappointing games, FF XV will necessarily be the same?

That's not a biased stance to take at all. -__-

Sounds true, but you can't judge an upcoming games on the quality of the games that came before it. There are cases of games that break the mold. If FF IX is bad to you, remember the game that came right before it was FF X and it was an amazing game. So at any time things can go either way.

Also, from looking at the trailer of FF XV, it looks to redefine anything we've ever seen of a Final Fantasy game. So with that in mind I don't think it's fair to expect FFXV to be bad because you were unhappy with the games that came before it.

That's my honest opinion of it.

That's how people can become pleasantly surprised. I agree games can come back from mediocrity, look at the Xenosaga series. BUT, I don't think it's unfair to say a dev makes less than stellar games based on history, no.

Also Final Fantasy X was an AMAZING game. But it was also made by Sqaure, and along with the original Kingdom Hearts they were the last games made by what they WERE. Square was an awesome company filled with talented devs and great leadership, but that's not what Sqaure-Enix is.
