I'm pretty confident that one's coming; what was the last Ninty console that didn't have one, the N64?

I don't see them delaying the game. They probably switched back to cell shading to save time on making new technologies and just modify Wind Waker.

The first one was on GC isn't?

Also AC Plaza ends this December as far as I know. So, next year AC U is a lock.

Fun fact: Animal Crossing started as a 64DD game, later switched to regular 64, but only came worldwide once the GC version was made.

In the meantime, they released a 2nd Zelda game for the N64 and were well underway on Wind Waker.

We do come up against the fact that Animal Crossing has been selling better than Zelda in the last decade...

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

The N64 did have the first Animal Crossing game, but only in Japan.

No, I don't think it will come out in 2015.

We've seen next to nothing from it. No actual gameplay. And yet Twilight Princess's first trailer debuted at E3 2004, and that had actual gameplay footage, and the game released in Nov 2006. Over two years later.
So no, I don't expect an open world Zelda we've seen practically nothing from to be released within half the time it took Twilight Princess to come out after it's initial trailer.

Of course, trailers aren't indicative of development cycles, but not seeing anything substatial from the next Zelda yet, and the fact that it's now an open world game, I have big doubts about seeing it in 2015.

Things have changed since then though.  Very few publishers reveal a game that isn't ready to release soon enough.  But, you're right in that they haven't had a game play blow out which is worrisome.

I didn't know that. Cool.

So the last console not to have one was the SNES, and their last system full stop not to have one was the GBA. Yep, pretty sure it's in the cooker, and a likely fallback for a 2015 christmas flagship.

Personally, I have no interest in Animal Crossing, but it's a popular series, so a Wii U entry isn't a bad idea commercially speaking.

yes nintendo can now concentrate mostly on Wii U games and because they obviously need it.
