Sure after the mess ISPs here caused with Netflix (not to mention the already expensive internet), I can't wait for a future where they're going to be even more invested into my entertainment.

It is obvious that there will be at least one more generation. Its not even up for debate from the side of Nintendo and Sony. Dunno what Microsoft is planning, but consoles arent exiting just yet. Theres no infrastructure for it and ignoring all the areas that can't acess the games would cut your install base by  alot and by consequence software sales. AKA dont listen to him. He makes lesser sense as the years pass.

Um dont we stream content on our consoles? Apple Tv isnt even used by anyone i know. Even iphone and ipad users. If i was Microsoft though, id be doing xbl as it is as a service next gen on TVs with deals with LG, Samsung, Panasonic etc. Steam proves internet is nearly there. You could even have a small £99 box for TVs without XBL intergration. Microsoft are the only company with server farms capable of doing this currently.

Well, I believe he's wrong to some extent. While digital distribution is the future, there are several things that are holding it back. Poor internet speed and stability is one. There's also the massive investment on servers that cope with the strain of millions of games streaming at the same time. Frequent bursts of lag can make every game unplayable. Not to forget that game companies will be more inclined to force their DRM. We all know what happened last year.

Without a Plan B, a digital-only future on the next 6-7 years is not feasible. Unless there's constant and stable high-speed internet available for every citizen in the US, I don't see digital-only taking off on this decade.

Sigh this story again last time I checked the PS4 broke a few records and the Xone sells better than it predecessor. Only the U suffers but perhaps smash will lift it to GameCube levels.
The total sales of this gen will equal gen 6 I guess, reason enough for gen 9 perhaps with 2 contenders
