Forums - Nintendo - So reviewers are docking Smash 10 points or more for no reason?

I'd say the 9/10 is more than deserved considering that it's still on the iffy side considering that the 3DS (XL) is just too small for this. That, and the slide pad.

Overall, if I didn't deduct points due to hardware faults (which were in no way Sakurai's or the dev teams' failures), I'd give this a 10/10.

I WON A BET AGAINST AZUREN! WOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

All I know is the 3DS version graphically looks like shit. And the 3DS controls were not made for Smash.

The Wii U version will rate higher, I'd be willing to bet.

Have you played the 3DS version? In no way does it look "like shit".

I bet the Wii U would sell more than 15M LTD by the end of 2015. He bet it would sell less. I lost.

the hardware is not suited for that kind of game,
that results always in lower score, why should nitendo be an exception?
it was their descision

Are we really going to start complaining about 9's now? It's bad enough that people see 7 as a bad score, but this is downright silly...

Well. If memory serves, it's -2 for handheld, -5 for being Nintendo, and then -5 for not being that month's primary advertiser.

Or is it +5 if you ARE the advertiser?

It's hard to remember how review scores work sometimes.

Never understood this style of thought. Last gen and even now Nintendo games get some of the highest scores overall as per Metacritic. Many sites even rated Super Mario Galaxy as game of the generation.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Honestly im not sure how its got a 88 on metacritic when it has online problems. Online multiplayer is very important in fighting games and if its laggy then it becomes a poor experience. All i can say is that the rest of the game must be really good to get scores as good as it is, but i wouldnt complain about getting the scores it has when it has a vital flaw right now.

Im going to pass on it until the WiiU version and im hoping they do a good job with online on WiiU

It's the 3DS version, what did you expect? :/

Yep, Nintendo are by far the most critically aclaimed publisher in the world. The assumption that there is some mass anti-Nintendo conspiracy among reviewers is pretty ridiculous. Or at the very least, if there is one they're doing a very poor job of it :p

Lol those were perfect reasons for a 9 and not a 10. It has issues with multiplayer, multiplayer is Smash Bros bread and butter. Without solid MP is their even a reason to play Smash?? =P

But many nintendo games have problems with connectivity. More to blame on 3DS than the game, and they said multiplayer is a blast besides that.

It is a smaller screen! Get better eye sight, at least it all is great gameplay with four player, not the games fault the screen is small.

Get better eye sight, or upgrade to a 3ds XL lol.

Maybe the New 3DS XL will fix many if these issues though!!

Exactly. If it's partially broken in some aspect, the game's score should be docked.
