Around the Network

Mario Kart 8.

Although that, Walking Dead Season 2, and Professor Layton VA Phoenix Wright have been the only 2014 games I have ever enjoyed this year so far.

Mario Kart 8, well until Super Smash Bros 4 U releases anyways.

Mario Kart 8, with Tropical Freeze as the runner-up.

InFamous or Destiny, which isn't saying much. I'm expecting great stuff from LBP3 though.

Around the Network

The only two games that where released this year that I have played so far are D4 and South Park enjoyed them both but I would have to give the edge to D4 since I like cell shading and overall its just a bit better.

I don't even think I really know. Nothing's really been a standout for me yet. Smash Bros for Wii U is more than likely gonna be my GotY, but for what's come out already, I guess I'd go with InFamous: Second Son, which says a lot when it's probably my least favourite in the series. Still really good, but I definitely like Cole's games more.

Just curious to know, why is Second Son your least favourite in the series? I personally though that while Infamous 1/2 were average/good, Second Son was great. The gameplay was far better, different powers lead to alot of variety and Seattle itself was a far better setting than the previous ones.

But we can agree on one thing, that is Second Son is the GOTY 2014 so far.

I'd go with MK8. It delivered and then some, and actually surprised me how much I liked it. I'm not a huge MK guy, so I guess that's part of it; it's nice when a game exceeds your expectations. It's beautiful and high quality.

That said, I haven't played DK, Titanfall, WD or Destiny yet so we'll see if that changes. I have high hopes for all of them.

Either Dark Souls 2 or South Park. I'm expecting Far Cry 4, LBP3 and Smash to all be contenders for me.

GotG?...already?...this gen barely started, and there´s Bloodborne :)

bloodborne looks amazing,. certainly looks like it will be one of my favorite games of the gen.

...but destiny is so perfect for me.   all of last gen i either avoided online multiplayer or if i did play i stayed in the co-op modes.  thing is those co-op modes are really just recycled multiplayer maps with bots.  it was fun but it was also an afterthought.   destiny is the first game (on consoles) that give me what i really want,.. a central focus on pve.   i played WoW for about 6 years doing really nothing but raids because that is what i like to do.  pvp can, imo, go fuck itself.

everyone is saying that destiny is a "grind" because all one can do is replay missions over and over again.  i soo don't understand that mentality because 20M+ people played CoD in the same 10 or whatever mp maps over and over and over and over again.   great,.. you love pvp but i don't.  but CoD isn't a bad game it is a bad game for me.   destiny is the first game on consoles that really treats pve as a real focus of the game.   1 raid, 6 strikes, 21 heroric story misssions,.. that's not a grind for me.    ..that's the most feature rich pve online mulitplayer game to ever hit consoles.    and bungie keeps adding more content.

i have no idea why people have their panties in such a bunch over destiny.   this game is amazing and i know myself,..  this is going to be my GotG.   if you don't like pve fine,.. that doesn't make destiny a bad game.

I've noticed you seem to both really love and defend Destiny and I was about to ask you why.... and then I saw this response and I think that sums it up pretty good.  I can remember playing the original Halo with friends in university and the best part was 2-player co-op and exploring the world.  The levels were a bit repetitive, but I didn't mind because it was a blast working your way with friends.  Would you say Destiny is like this?  Like Halo 1?  If so, I think I would probably like it very much.
