But to go and claim to understand every specifics about the combat system from these speculations? If there's one thing I've learned from the hype that went on before XIII released, is that you shouldn't look too deep into things as vague as a patent like this and try to make more of them than what they actually are. Proper explanations of the battle system will come. Until then, people, including you, know next to nothing about it. |
Errr, don't know where or how I or anyone claimed to understand all the details. In my OP I said i would try and answer qustions based on what I understand from the docs. That doesn't mean anything is written in stone. And all this does is just give a general idea of how the system works. If nothing else, we at least know that they are heavily employing the gambit system from FF12 and now one such modifier is position and distance. We also know that a hold action is used in the games control scheme from what Tabata himself said.
You are making it sound like all these assumptions or analysis are just pulled outta people asses. Thats far from the case. And what gives, at worst people, including me may be wrong about whatever we are saying here, that doesn't mean we can't say it. And i also made it clear that this info was got from patent details. Any sane thinking person should know that that should be taken with a pinch of salt.

You are exactly right. Personally, I'm not gonna lie, it kind of worries me but only because I don't understand it and I'm unsure if I will enjoy it. However, because I don't understand it, and I know I don't understand it, then I'm not going to judge it and whine about it. I just hope, whatever happens is fun providing a reasonable amount of complexity and challenge that I've come to expect from FF. |
It sounds interesting to me, but I still have my concerns. Too much focus on automation will make for really cool looking action but the game will become boring very fast. Especially when you consider that its a game that will last well over 40hrs.
And as good as the gambit system is, its not actual as casual friendly is Tabata seems to want to make the game be. He wants to move away from the tediousness or button mashing of the classical RPG or KH type RPG, so a gambit system seems to be his obvious ploy. And then add depth to the gambits and their implementation to ensure the hardcore fans remain happy and challenged. But thats just it, gambits aren't easy for everyone to wrap their heads around to begin with.

Errr. The TLDR part of your OP says:
"I hope that sheds some light on how this will work. Its a loooooot deeper than all this but I am just tryng to give you all an idea".
That's where I got that you "understand all the details" and passed them as facts. Maybe I did the same as you did and looked too much into things that weren't specific enough to give the actual big picture... ^__-
But when you said "this is nothing like assumptions", I didn't feel I was far off from the mark.
The best explanations we have so far for the battle system, are this:
http://www.siliconera.com/2014/09/19/final-fantasy-xv-demo-will-let-drive-around-explore-dungeons/
Now, you can extrapolate all you want about how the game's sub systems will work. I just don't think you'll achieve much other than disappointment when things don't turn out to be as you believed they'd be when we finally receive proper in-depth explanations.

My exact thoughts.
hopefully the do the gambit system like dragon age...
and not make you buy the gambits, that was a terrible idea to an otherwise really good AI system.
I think I get it. I played FFXII and have a good grasp on the gambit system. It sounds like you can configure enemy distance and team mate location into it now. Then perform a few steps of various macros depending on how many times you tap the button. The hope is that finding the proper distance at which to enact the best macro for the situation doesn't make it babytown frolics for core players.
