FF should be a RPG, this game will suck.
I think a lot of people are jumping to conclusions all off something they don't understand or that hasn't really been done before.
I am just curious to see what and how this combat system would work. There is enough I have read about it that sounds like nothing I have seen or played before and thats good enough to keep my interest until i try it out myself.
This thread will be full of incessant whining once again. Wait until you've tried it and/or you've heard from people that tried it. Right now there is hardly any valid discussion to be had on this topic.

I don't think it will be complicated either. But the way you try to claim to know how everything will work based on nothing but conjectures and assumptions...
Sorry, but no. Things might end up partly like what you describe. Especially when it comes to the gambit used for party members other than Noctis. Could be that part of the strategies will be to position Noctis at certain distances from other party member to trigger specific abilities. Basically, their actions being influenced based on what you do with Noctis. I could see this being the case, yes. Will those gambits be customizable similar to what they are in XII? Or will they be set in stone and just trigger based on what you'll do with Noctis? Who knows.
But to go and claim to understand every specifics about the combat system from these speculations? If there's one thing I've learned from the hype that went on before XIII released, is that you shouldn't look too deep into things as vague as a patent like this and try to make more of them than what they actually are.
Proper explanations of the battle system will come. Until then, people, including you, know next to nothing about it.

You are exactly right.
Personally, I'm not gonna lie, it kind of worries me but only because I don't understand it and I'm unsure if I will enjoy it.
However, because I don't understand it, and I know I don't understand it, then I'm not going to judge it and whine about it. I just hope, whatever happens is fun providing a reasonable amount of complexity and challenge that I've come to expect from FF.

Ok, I am sure it is going to be great...

I can't understand what it was talking about in a gambit system. I've never played Final Fantasy XII, only Revenant wings.

It was kinda cool, you could program the AI of your allies for every battle, which actually make the game very fun, cause they would follow your orders like a real army or squad.

Same here. But I must say I'm not really worried. From what I've seen of the game so far, it looks quite fun. And I welcome the action oriented gameplay. I've found myself getting a little bored of turn based RPGs the last few years. The last truly excellent turn based RPG I've played is Lost Odyssey. The others I've played, while good, weren't excellent in their execution (Ni No Kuni comes to mind. Even though I adored that game, the battle system was a mess at times. But that's a debate for an other thread.). Lately, I've been into more action oriented RPGs, like the Fable series, Kingdom of Amalur, Skyrim, Witcher, etc...
If they manage to address the lack of controller inputs that plagued the Gambit System, which I still enjoyed and think is a great idea that needs to evolve, and make it so that you actually feel active during the battle sequences, and so far it looks to be the case, then I am sure I will enjoy playing that game. Add to that the fact that there will actually be proper exploration in this game, a world map, controllable airships (if that hasn't been scrapped)... And yeah, I don't see how this could be a worse game than FF XIII.
