Forums - Gaming - Does MS really deserve praise for "listening" to consumers ??

Disc based games are a hindrance.

I wish I hadn´t have to go up and switch between discs... The risk of damaging or lost the disc is also an anoyance.

Voice comands are also great, specially for DD games, movies and apps. But they still need improviment, which I think it might be affect by Kinect not being bundle to every console any more.

If Microsof is listening to me, hey should remove the disc drive and re-bundle the Kinect.

It's weird, I posted on here that I would not buy an Xbox One if they limited my ability to lend or resell my games.

Luckily they listened to me and reversed that policy.

Yet funny enough, the only two physical games I have bought is a copy of Battlefailed 4 for my son and a copy of Destiny for my brother. Everything else is all digital.

No. They only made the changes from the Xbone being TV TV TV to GAMES GAMES GAMES because Sony is stomping them in sales. They wanted it to be a TV box first and a games system second. They've already left the kinect for dead.

Buying Sony PR BS all the way, are we? They always had the choice of not putting that Bluray player in, but they did it since they were a big investor into the format and used their fans to get a foothold in the marketplace. At least I acknowledge that they both behave exactly the same way whenever they come from having a strong position in the market.

You do realize this makes no sense right? Sony didn't know blue ray would be a problem till after they lanched. Since the PS3 was not only developed to use BluRay but it also had Blu-ray games, it would be impossible for them to change without worsening the situation if not killing the system outright.

Notice, How Sony stuck with Blu-Ray, took a loss on the system, and the price was only reduced after manufacturing methods went down in price

How could they not know it wouldn't be a problem? They knew the cost of developing Bluray (which they are a cofounder of) so ofcourse they knew the system would be insanely expensive, they just hoped PS2 fans would swallow it anyway. Otherwise they would've gone a cheaper route if their focus was consumers.

So Apple knew that the first iphone would be a problem despite it costing more then normal cellphones at the time?

These companies take risks all the time, its impossible to know whether or not it would pay off. Furthemore, a lot of the reason PS2 sold well at all was because of its extra utlility as a DVD player. PS1 was an MP3 player. Why would PS3 not follow the trend because it was expensive. They didn't know price would be that much of an issue until after the PS3 launch. Its not like the PS2 was the cheapest console at the time, that was Gamecube. And just as easily as you try to peg an expensive blu-ray player as anticonsumer. I can easily mention how you forgot to include the 200$ loss they took on by giving the PS3 extra utility like its predecessors. Hell, MS was trying to push a format as well. Its not called format wars for nothing.

IMHO the problem was that people complained and MS reversed that policy BEFORE the product was out.

It was pure and simple prejudice, and pointless comporation hate. But oh, they want things to be the some thing to be as it has been for 30 years, since with Atari 2600 and similars.

Of corse MS failed to put out the message and convince hardcore early adopters.

The fact, is that I look at my 4 and half years old iPod Touch and it looks and feel more "advanced" than the XOne looks today.

Apple sells more than 100mi iPhones per year... PS2 took 5 years to reach that mark, and the PS3 will never suprass 90mi.

It doesn´t matter how much you spin, the PS3 was a failure that harbinger all the problems Sony is facing right now.

What I like about what you said is that you would not buy if the "limited" you. Which makes sense because you wanted the option to choose to buy physical or digital. That makes more sense in my eyes because you have a choice. So even though you have bought basically everything digital you still haev the option of the disc based games.

On Topic:

I don't think they really deserve "praise" per say. They deserve to get the same attitude Sony got last gen when they launched with that RIDICULOUS price. THe "about freaking time" attitude or the "that's what you should have done in the first place" kind of attitude.

Wait what did he spin? When did he say the PS3 WAS NOT a failure(finacially anyway)? And how was teh PS3 the harbinger of all the problems Sony is facing right now? It lost money but was it as bad as say the TV or computer divisions? What does anything in your post have to do with anything he stated? You confused me in this post so I had questions that's all.

Reading comprehension. Key word is first. And if you were paying attention, nobody was trying to spin that the PS3 was good. Puppy claimed that Sony could have known that blu-ray would cost the PS3 sales, before hand, I said that was impossible.

Its almost as if you didn't read my comment at all and are just flaming me because I was talking about the PS3.

Also, case in point.

Sony´s TVs, Computers and Smartphones are failing by the same reasons that PS3 failed.
