Looking at those numbers i noticed two very important things (outside of the PS4 vs X1 sales):

- PS3 outsold by a considerable margin the Wii U again this week, (Tales of Xillia 2, Ar no Surge and Fairy Fencer F are keeping the PS3 alive and its even competing with an 8th generation console, and people said this "niche" Jrpgs didnt matter...)

- The PS4 finally outsold the Wii U on Japan with a number of 23,196 vs Wii U number of 6,225, and thats with a WESTERN game like Destiny, so i wonder how things are gonna be over there when games like Persona 5, Disgaea 5, FF Type 0, FF XV, Neptunia VII, Fairy Fencer F Advent Dark Force, God Eater 2 Rage Burst, Senran Kagura an many others get released on japan and worldwide.

just some thoughts.

Look at chart top selling games are not niche jrpg games on ps3

PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m

Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m

Right, because that is totally the prevailing attitude on the internet!

Critically the game didn't even approach expectations. A horrendous game? No.

But nothing like what those hundreds of thousands of people were expecting!

I never understand posts like this.

The game had an Alpha, people played. The game had a closed beta, people played. They had an open beta, people played.

Game releases and has HUGE numbers.

People must have liked what they played.

One of the most common complaints is a lack of content - empty spaces, insufficient/poor story.

None of that would show up in an Alpha or Beta.

Good thing the storyline isn't important for this game. The meat is in the co-op Strikes, Heroic weekly strikes, Raids, Crucible matches, farming for loot, playing with friends, etc...

Just like how people don't play Diablo for the storyline. They play for loot. In this game you not only gain loot, but that loot needs to be used in order to gain EXP and level up themselves. It has PLENTY to do and it will only grow from here.

What's I don't like though is that you personally have zero experience with the game, meanwhile continue to spread negativity as if your opinion carries weight. You are mearly repeating the opinions you choose to latch onto without any realworld experience of your own. Unfortunately you chose to latch onto the negative, even though the positive opinions far outweight them.

It's not very flattering for one in your position. I meant this in a constructive critism sort of way.

While i'd take any of those games over Destiny, that's not really true, because what caused these PS3 numbers were Destiny...

i have no problem with your argument, but i want to know how do you know thats the case?... OHH! WAIT NOW I KNOW LOL yeah those games released here on the west on september but they have been out in japan for almost a year LOL, My Bad, Sorry Guys, i will edit my original post.

I'm really really amazed that sales peaked just for Destiny!

Europe for XB1 seems odd, if UK got a boost of at least 10k , should be up over last week.

Europe got a ~30k boost last week (almost +300% iirc) due to the tier 2 launch and free game bundles. Now there is no launch so a huge drop would've been natural but at least Destiny kept it from dropping badly.

Completely anectodal, but this is my current real world experience with Destiny.

@Work

3 people have it on 360. They all play together and love it.
4 people have it on PS4. I know 2 of the 3 love it. Haven't personally talked the 3rd guy as I have never talked to him before. 4th guy still hasn't removed it from the plastic. He is still sucked into Diablo 3.
1 person MIGHT get it for XBox One.

I have however heard 2 people trash talk it, calling it a Halo clone. They pick on me for playing "yet another Halo".

Neither of them own it.

There will be a lull for the week of the 20th and then another ramp-up for the week ending Sept 27th with Fifa 15. Then its the Holiday season push! Fun times ahead! Haters better get their jabs in now.

not with it's 40k US pre orders for the best selling version.

LOL

That's like judging Madden sales potential based on EU pre-orders.

Bungie made a lot of mistakes but none of them are critical or hard to fix (the game will grow big in the next months).

- Story: the game have a interesting story but Bungie choose just to tell a little via cultscenes (because the game is a co op experience and not single-player) but it grows the universe via Dead Ghosts + Grimoires... the story is really big but they made the mistake to tell it via app on PC/Mobile instead to put it inside the game (or use cultscenes).

- Social features: the games needs ingame Clan support and a ingame chat feature... the socia features needs to grow.

These two are my biggest complain for now... if they fix that (the social features mainly)  the game will grow from a solid 9/10 experience to 9.5 or even 10/10 experience.

Maybe Eurogamer and Game Informer are right the game will be majestic in one year.

And you are dead right people trashing it didn't played it (aka Starcraft).

I understand your points but a huge selling week like this has a big margain for error and likely won't follow past trends. We'll just have to wait until NPd to know for sure

yes, for sure

i expect an error marin of <50k this week and <100k for the whole month (5weeks tracking period)
