Right, because that is totally the prevailing attitude on the internet!

Critically the game didn't even approach expectations. A horrendous game? No.

But nothing like what those hundreds of thousands of people were expecting!

I never understand posts like this.

The game had an Alpha, people played. The game had a closed beta, people played. They had an open beta, people played.

Game releases and has HUGE numbers.

People must have liked what they played.

One of the most common complaints is a lack of content - empty spaces, insufficient/poor story.

None of that would show up in an Alpha or Beta.

Why not?

Digital pre-load... I can't wait to get the game in the other day after played the Alpha/Beta... I wake up 4am just to play it at the first minute before go to work (8am).

Here in Brazil we didn't have stores opened for midnight releases and the 12am PST means 4am here.

I predicted 450-500k for PS4. What do I win?

I fully expect this week's numbers to change a bit down the road though

Poor wiiU left in the dust

Looking at those numbers i noticed two very important things (outside of the PS4 vs X1 sales):

- PS3 outsold by a considerable margin the Wii U again this week, (Tales of Xillia 2, Ar no Surge and Fairy Fencer F are keeping the PS3 alive and its even competing with an 8th generation console, and people said this "niche" Jrpgs didnt matter...) ouch, i forgot those games came out on japan last year my bad so this boost is only due to Destiny. my mistake!, sorry people.

- The PS4 finally outsold the Wii U on Japan with a number of 23,196 vs Wii U number of 6,225, and thats with a WESTERN game like Destiny, so i wonder how things are gonna be over there when games like Persona 5, Disgaea 5, FF Type 0, FF XV, Neptunia VII, Fairy Fencer F Advent Dark Force, God Eater 2 Rage Burst, Senran Kagura an many others get released on japan and worldwide.

just some thoughts.

That is your opinion. I'd say that Infamous: Second Son, Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition, Watch Dogs and The Last Of Us: Remastered are all better than Ground Zeroes.

Gound Zeroes was a amazing and surprising 20 hours experience for me.

TLOUS is the only better in your list but it is a last year game... so it didn't count to me for this year.

According to VGChartz, the PS4 only sold 60k+ more in the US than the Xbox One dispute having a bundle that was in the top ranking at Amazon and GameStop for months. Either the PS4 is massively undertracked or the Xbox one is massively overtracked. I believe that the Xbox One got a decent boost so I believe that this will be one of the greately single undertrackings of the the year for the PS4. It doesn't take much of an analyst to figure that out.

Also, there are huge indications that the White PS4 bundle outsold the Xbox 360 Destiny. So, I will go as far as to say that the PS4 is undertracked by at least 200k.

or maybe it fits?

last time the ps4 was overtracked slighty more than the xb1 in the us

It could fit but how well the Destiny bundle did on amazon suggests otherwise. If Destiny bundle has sold more than TF bundle for the year on amazon how is the gap only 60k? One, or both, of the sources are quite off

yeah. i know

it suggest 250-300k destiny bundels alone :D

here is vgc tracking for the last months before adjustment (august doent count, because last week was relased after npd):

august:

ps4 overtracked by 3k units

xb1 undertracked by 5k units

july:

ps4 overtracked by 18k units

xb1 overtracked by 8k units

june:

ps4 undertracked by 71k units

xb1 undertracked by 15k units

may:

ps4 overtracked by 54k units

xb1 overtreacked by 28k units

so as i said. they're not spot ont. but its not just bad tracking for one of the consoles. its nearly the same for both.

so i dont see one being heavily overtracked while the other is heavily undertracked. or even one right and the other totally wrong

While i'd take any of those games over Destiny, that's not really true, because what caused these PS3 numbers were Destiny...

You guys realy should give VGChartz numbers with a grain of salt.

A 300% vs a 30% boost is impossible. Simple as that.

I don´t have to invoke the Amazon chart oracle to claim how absurd this situation is. Nor that in UK alone gave XOne at least 150% boost.

PS: I even think that Whatchdogs that was completely ignored by most XOne owners gave a boost in Xbox hardware.

Last week was tier 2 launch for Xbox + free game bundle, which already had bumped X1 from its 50-60k baseline...

This is really triple its normal sales

I understand your points but a huge selling week like this has a big margain for error and likely won't follow past trends. We'll just have to wait until NPd to know for sure
