That'd certainly help.

More relevant would be a few weeks/months from now, when Destiny either continues to be broadly successful commercially, or falters in the face of better games through the holidays.

Would not factor in digital sales, or people who buy used copies.

The real telling factor will be the sales performance of the future expansion packs in comparison to total software totals, everything else is speculative guesswork prone to bias.

Not really. The people who pre-ordered and paid for the game that had no reviews and was expected to be one of the best games of the year are not reflective of actual views of the game. By definition, the data in the OP offers no insight into that at all.

Oh come on, it had the biggest alpha/beta phase in the history of videogames, it's not like the internet was devoid of impressions, or that people who preordered it were left in the dark until the day of release.

You just seem to hate the game on a personal level and are looking for ways to translate a relatively standard amount of negative discussion for a new title as people unanimously slating it.

The reality is most people enjoyed it and an extremely large portion are continuing to do so.

Sorry, I don't. If we're talking VGC Meta predictions, I didn't see them. Not that it changes anything, but that's the only place any "expectations" can mean something to this debate. It's a lonely fish in the Ocean.

Now, if the drop off is horrendous between the next week and week after, your view is validated.

That'd certainly help.

Destiny obviously wouldn't continue to be so huge. Most of the people who wanted it have likely already bought it and besides the number of games coming out in the holidays on PS4/XB1 are so many that Destiny is bound to be overshadowed ultimately by the sum of those games.

IMO it is together with Ground Zeroes the best release of the year.

BTW how do you know that people that pre-ordered it didn't think it is the best game of the year?

I preodered and I think it is.

You are talking without any evidence or even experience over the game.

According to VGChartz, the PS4 only sold 60k+ more in the US than the Xbox One dispute having a bundle that was in the top ranking at Amazon and GameStop for months. Either the PS4 is massively undertracked or the Xbox one is massively overtracked. I believe that the Xbox One got a decent boost so I believe that this will be one of the greately single undertrackings of the the year for the PS4. It doesn't take much of an analyst to figure that out.

Also, there are huge indications that the White PS4 bundle outsold the Xbox 360 Destiny. So, I will go as far as to say that the PS4 is undertracked by at least 200k.

or maybe it fits?

last time the ps4 was overtracked slighty more than the xb1 in the us

It could fit but how well the Destiny bundle did on amazon suggests otherwise. If Destiny bundle has sold more than TF bundle for the year on amazon how is the gap only 60k? One, or both, of the sources are quite off

woah 2:1 already. A few months ago, I though that wasnt going to happen until next year.

Agreed, that'd certainly come into play.

starcraft - Playing Games = FUN, Talking about Games = SERIOUS

Right, because that is totally the prevailing attitude on the internet!

Critically the game didn't even approach expectations. A horrendous game? No.

But nothing like what those hundreds of thousands of people were expecting!

I never understand posts like this.

The game had an Alpha, people played. The game had a closed beta, people played. They had an open beta, people played.

Game releases and has HUGE numbers.

People must have liked what they played.

That is your opinion. I'd say that Infamous: Second Son, Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition, Watch Dogs and The Last Of Us: Remastered are all better than Ground Zeroes.
