So it's phones fault...
I don't buy expensive phones, a cheap but rugged Motorola is more than enough for me, but I really can't understand why almost all people willing to spend a lot on these things go with Apple or Samsung like sheeps when many top end Sony models match them in HW, SW and communication features and, in some models, add water, shock and dust resistance, that in devices so expensive should be very desirable, and on top of all this, they offer a distinctive style, quite different from competitors. Luckily, recent polls show people liking (but this won't necessarily reflect on sales) the latest Motorola, Nexus and HTC top end models more than both iPhone 6 and the latest Samsung, maybe people are waking up, but I'd have expected a warmer welcome for the latest Sonys too.

Think of this issue like Origin VS Steam. Ignoring Origin having only EA games for a second. Once you get something from one brand. You don't want to bother gettting anything else. Even if another brand is better. Just stick with one thing. You don't have to deal with buying apps etc. under something else. You have to get lucky like Samusung to have enough people just leave Apple.

Yes, this is a sensible explanation, maybe I tend to not get or simply forget it, particularly about Samsung success, because of all the Samsung products I or my family ever bought, only one is mildly satisfying and the others are or were utter crap. I also thought Android would have made easier to change brand preferences, but it actually didn' happen in a significant scale. Or maybe it happened a positive thing that happens to not favour Samsung competitors, phone users are mostly OS agnostic and almost exclusively buy basing themselves on apps, functions and HW features, so the leader brand just needs to satisfy these requests of theirs and brand fidelity gives it the edge on competitors.

It is crap. Like the other person said, people have been saying that for 5 years already, and I can see them continue to chat crap for another 5 years when Sony WILL still be around and PS4 will still be leading and they will also have successful phones and cameras, and a handheld too.

If you are so confident, do you want to bet on it?

They are in debt, but not all companies that are in debt are in trouble. If hundreds of other companies are willing to work with Sony rather than abandoning ship (like they do in most cases with companies in this much debt), I dont see why I should believe someone on a forum saying they are in trouble.

The truth is, you don't want to believe it. Because you are pro-Sony, you want to believe that everything is rosy and perfect for them.

The actual truth is that the bolded works for anti-Sony fans as well. Or should we simply ignore that? There have been countless posts and threads by people who simply hate Sony for being Sony and predicted its demise one too many times. What do they have to say when you confront them? Well, they definitely don't admit that their theories were nothing more than wishful thinking.

So, if you're gonna accuse someone of not seeing something/not wanting to believe something because they are pro-Sony. take sometime to look at the other side of the coin, eh?

While the part about Sony closing doors is effectively wishful thinking, the rest is true and we see a lot of people without any real knowledge of what's going on (number wise) not believing that Sony is, indeed, in trouble...

Nothing to do with pro-Sony or not. Sony is bleeding money for years now.
This has actually nothing to with the Playstation or the fans. It is just a fact and frankly a sad one as Sony was at some point a very successful company...

Why Sony continues to hold on to phones and TV I will never know......another HUGE loss. Hopefully they can post another small profit soon enough and continue to go in the green at some point in the future. These losses as not good at all and they are indeed in bad shape. Not "going under" out of shape yet but bad shape none the less.

Sony has posted losses in 9 out of the 10 previous fiscal years. They have fired over 100,000 employees in the past decade. They were forced to sell their NYC headquarters, their Tokyo "Holy Land" building, their birthplace and the majority of the "Sony City" area in Japan. They have liquidated assets at an alarming rate. They have closed gaming division development houses. Their PC division is a billion dollar flop. Their TV division will soon be closed. They lost portable music to Apple. Their American CEO abruptly abandoned the company. They are bleeding developer talent at an alarming rate.

Their credit rating is still junk status at all three credit agencies and now their stock is no longer backed by the Japanese government, making it worthless in the eyes of serious investors.

I know you're an alt, I just to have to find the name of your original account now.

How can they still be posting these kinds of losses? One would hope that they level of soon and atleast post a little profit.

i dont know... maybe because they are publicly traded company?

I wonder how much longer Kaz is going to have to implement his restructuring plans?

Love the product, not the company. They love your money, not you.

I mean, if they pulled out of everything they make a loss in, that would only leave them the ps division and their entertainment division.  I'd imagine kaz wants a bit of diversity in their portfolio.
