Not a bad deal.
if they sell 10m copies at thirty bucks a hit they'd easily make the money back.

You need a new calculator

Also, Phil Spencer claims the deal will break even by the end of FY 2015, as far as accounting department is concerned...

I expect Minecraft to be bundleds with every Windows phone/tablet and every XBox One/360 going forward.  That is the only way they can claim it will "break even" by FY2015.

Worst decision ever...

The price of Capcom + 20 AAA as ambitious as TLOU ( 4 AAA each year...) + 20 AA with 10M budget

they have a lot billions to spend. they wouldnt spend 2.5b in mc if they didnt have a lot more to burn

I dont think they will ever spend 2,5b in exclusives for their console anyway, they could have done it a long time ago if they wanted to.

MS will probably spend billions on exclusives for X1 throughout the generation. They said they were going to spend a billion on X1 exclusives during launch.

Yes for timed exclusive like Tomb Raider, Titanfall, exclusive marketing on COD, Madden, Fifa, ...

We still wait to see more; with such money, they could have done so much.

And other titles like Forza 5, Ryse, Dead Rising 3, Killer Instinct, Forza Horizon 2, Sunset Overdrive, Quantum Break, Fable Legends, Halo 5, Gears of War, numerous digital downloads, etc.

There is still plenty of stuff coming comprable to the competition. On top of that, they now own Minecraft.

never got into mc

Well.... that is a ton of money spent on a game already on the Xbox platform... to now be on the Xbox platform. Not only is it a massive amount of cash to drop but also it now makes Xbox's gaming department a lot more difficult to break away from the company and turn a profit considering they've just added 2.5billion to the price of their gaming department.

Thing is tho, Microsoft really must have some massive plan in order to turn a profit on this deal, it's not like they would have made such a massive purchase without a massive plan for it.

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

Just remember people. That's 2.5B and it costs $600k to start and maintain a decent sized game studio. By doing the math they could open thousands of studios with that Minecraft money. Stupid decision, MS.

Fiscal year 2015? Did he actually say that? Lol, that's ridiculous, they'll be lucky if it breaks even by 2030...

Good luck trying to make that money back.

RIP IN PEACE WII U AND 3DS VERSIONS.

nice

At least it's a better deal than Oculus for 2 billion.
