Forums - Gaming - Anyone who's disappointed after purchasing Destiny because of hype only has themselves to blame.

Bungie didn't show bs videos about how the game would play in the most ideal circumstances like Ubisoft usually does, they didn't announce bogus features features that were never implemented like Rockstar has on their last few games.  Months before launch Bungie announced the level cap, all the areas that were available within the game, all the features available, and opened servers for PS3, 360, Xbox One, and PS4 owners to play the game's beta.  People who were interested in Destiny had every opportunity to see if they'd enjoy the game before purchasing it.

There was nothing deceiving about the games advertising.  If you are one of the people to have overhyped it in your own mind thinking the final version of the game should have more than they described, then you only have yourself to blame.

I agree, everything about this game was pretty open.

Well said. Probably the most honest marketing pitch ever. Nothing was hidden, and all questions answered.
I knew what to expect, and am having tons of fun right now.

"It was over-hyped," is never an excuse for anything. It's basically the same as saying, "I was naive and got pwned by advertising." The fault rests on no one else but the person who fell for it.

I know I fell for the hype around LA Noire but I certainly blame no one but myself for that.

With Destiny, I think it's even less of an excuse, as we knew pretty much all the facts going in. The hype never even touched me because of that. I thought it looked good--I still think it looks good--but it's never been at the top of my most wanted list, either.

I'm also not buying the anti-hype, as a lot of that seems to come from people who had no real idea of what they were getting into or are mad that it's not the "game of the generation".

Agreed entirely.

Game is pretty damn fun though. Obviously people expecting a different game than what they got will be disappointed but i'm having a frickin blast.

A warrior keeps death on the mind from the moment of their first breath to the moment of their last.

Well I hate the genre so much, but I bought the game. I escaped the hype. Just turn on some halo music and enjoy... although 3 man fireteams is too damn small for story missions

Any time people would say the game was "Hyped" or "Over-hyped".. I would say.. 4.6 million played the game. They had MORE then enough time to KNOW what the game was like. You can't have "hype" after that.

The game was laid out.. people played it in MASS numbers (more then most games EVEN SELL)..   There it is..

The lack of story from reviewers bugs me.. This is NOT "The Last OF Us".. in games you need MORE story because the ACTION is less. You need a REASON to continue to play it.. that is the need for a rich story.

Games like Destiny and TitanFall can be LIGHT (I think both have sufficient story anyway) on story because the ACTION is what compels the gamer to play.

Pretty much. I played the beta, twice, and I came in fully known what I was getting into. Gameplay first, story second.
