You know what I understand from all of this? That Destiny in its current form is like a start up pack.
Am I right?

I wouldn't go that far, its definitely not huge like the early marketing implied, and there is already two expansions planned, but if measure it against most FPS's its fine IMO.

I think some people had some Halo/Skyrim mash-up in their heads where you could explore these massive maps for hours, but that doesn't seem to be Bungies focus. They've obviously put a lot of effort into well balanced, choreographed battles instead of lots of randomly generated content, for better or worse. I guess you just need to decide whether that works for you.

Hmmm...that doesn't really strike me as "GOTG" status. It's actually asking a reasonable question with the assumption that, because Destiny is an A) shooter and B) by Bungie, is there anything else that goes up against it for Game of the Year?

Which directly leads back to my point. Not long ago, a good deal of Xbox fans would tell me that Bungie games are: "Game of the Year by default". When Destiny rolled around (long before reviews), I then heard how it would: "not be very good", "looked generic", and "showed a weakness in Bungie's future" (even though this is the team's first time experimenting with an MMO (specifically on console) and their first multi-format developed title.

Thus, while I was prepared to offer a concession speech, because if I'm wrong, I'm wrong, I can't do so with nothing really contradicting what I said. If there an abundance of: "overhype" threads about Destiny (on our site), I'd like to see them.

I never said "GOTG", and anyone that says that or what I said "greatest game of all time" is obviously exaggerating. But if you haven't seen the overhype that Destiny has received then I guess you need to look at the site more.

Destiny has been greeted with more caution than hype from day one.  Obviously there's been a lot of hype from the company but from non-biased sources people were saying that maybe it would GOTY because of lack of competition or because it's in a popular genre and from a popular company.  Personally I'm enjoying it because I actually got the memo about 10 years of support and don't let myself think a game is going to be anymore than a Borderlands Halo mix from the start which is exactly what it looked like and played like in the Beta.  Also I've played through Halo 1-3 and can't see how someone could love Halo and hate Destiny they play VERY similarly and even the stories have some similar elements.  Sounds like hateful slinging from the Xbox camp that they don't get Bungie all to themselves anymore.

Not disappointed at all. I knew what I was expecting having played the beta. I'm just surprised so many people didn't touch the open beta then are complaining that the final product plays exactly like the beta :^)

Failed to clarify, the review scores are pretty much spot on. It's a polarising game.

I agree , i played the beta and imidiatly saw what was the game about, it was not what i was expecting and i was vvery hyped before, i knew the game would be fun but repetitive and i didnt bought it, the dlc plans they mention didnt helped either. I didnt like i didnt bought, you bought it expecting what ? you have no reason to complain cause the game had a beta and a alpha.

edited: and from what i see the loud guys hating are the dudes that are still butthurt about bungie is multyplatform now,  and these? they hated it since day 1.

That awkward moment when reviews did it to . and the comments on IGN from ps4 fans too

Hush up with that logic, let them live in their bubble. Just imagine the 104 Metacritic score and 17 million minute one sales we would have if not for bitter Xbox "campers" (aka fanboys) being so mad because Bungie is making games on other platforms.

If Destiny was that similar to a Halo game then it would be up there with Halo games in terms of critical success. You act as if the game is a 85+ and Xbox gamers are bashing it because we're salty. Destiny's story is absolutely bland with no character development or at least a character to care about. Not even your own character makes you invested in it. The story missions are not memorable at all, they're just big playable areas with objectives. The multiplayer is unbalanced and doesn't come with features like custom games, forge, or even more variety of what to play. If you truly have played Halo you would be able to tell that Destiny does not hold up to them. Ive played over a thousand hours of Halo so I think I know what level of quality to expect from a Bungie game. They did not deliver. At least not yet since it seems that they're holding back content for Expansions and weekly updates.

No, what I do is never my responsibility.

Yep, and Destiny is everything I hoped it would be! I'm having an amazing time, regardless of bullshit, attention-begging reviews.

That is, well, a very good point.

Well I have "truly" played it and I do think there a good number of Xbox gamers being salty.  That being said mechanically it is the same game as far as shooting.  In Halo many times you go to a terminal and Cortana asks you hold off Covenant or fight them to get to the terminal.  Same thing with Ghost in Destiny.  Sorry if I'm shattering your nostalgia glasses here but they're the same thing.

I know that they are similar in that way. See post here.

You said that you can't see how a Halo fan doesn't like Destiny, I told you why.
