Forums - Nintendo - A biased review: Fire Emblem

My favourite Fire Emblem. Also one of the best games ever made.

Isn't it called Fire Emblem: Blazing Swords, though?

And score should be higher.

Totaly agree with you.

I played this a year after it's original release in the States. Fell in love with it. NEVER played anything like it in my gaming life at the time. The characters, the plot, the villains, the gameplay. It's still inside my Shadow Dragon DS case for whenever I want to relive the memories.

In my opinion, the GBA Fire Emblem games' handling of the support system are actually the best in the series, barring the limitations on who can support whom, but to each their own.

All I know is that this game drew me to support Intelligent Systems.

I WON A BET AGAINST AZUREN! WOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

:3

Ill be getting this when I eventually end up buying a Wii U.

Thanks for the review, Rol.

Great review. This was my first Fire Emblem and second favorite in the franchise, just behind FE9.

The Quick-save feature woud be a god-send for HHM and that obnoxious Kishuna battle. I remember my 5-star playthrough a few years back. I had to reset my game so many times. *shivers*

Also agree about the Support convos in this one. The conversations were some of my favorites (Hector/Lyn in particular), but good lord were they annoying to unlock. I think I still only have ~20% of them after 10+ playthroughs. I pretty much give up and decide to only focus on marriages every time I try to get into it.

I actually played FE6 (The one with Roy) before this one. As such, I actually like FE6 more than FE7. I liked the story and characters more but the fact that thieves can promote into assassins in FE7 (unlike FE6) is awesome. I also enjoyed FE12 and Awakening more but this one was pretty good as well.

This remains the best medival SRPG I've played.

One of my favorite series of all time. Im currently playing FE awakening now.

Haven't played this one yet. Will play this soon.

Picking a favorite Fire Emblem is like picking a favorite child.

That's never been a problem for me, however! ::Sinister Grin::

This is my order. 1. Radiant Dawn 2. Awakening 3. Fire Emblem GBA (Blazing Sword) 4. Path of Radiance 5. Scared Stones 6. Shadow Dragon.

It's a solid game, though I would personally detract a few points more for Merlinus. That irritated me throughout the game. A few general grievances are having to steal promotion items I ended up with one Elysian whip because I was supposed to steal from an enemy unit hiding in the dark. Never liked the cut scene dependant promotions with Eliwood's being incredibly late.

I agree with the more often bad than good level ups. I ditched several characters because they just were a burden. Rebecca was promoted to a Sniper and her strength was still under 10. Ditched most of the mounted units and axe users as well.
