French gaming site Gamekult has compiled data from Gfk to establish a top 20 of the best selling games in Europe in the first half of 2014. The chart is in sold units order, but the data was originally in revenue order, so that's the 20 biggest revenues ordered differently. (bundles and digital not counted)
Highlights :
- WatchDogs made the biggest revenue, 5 times as much as MK8, the biggest Nintendo game
- 2013 games performed exceptionally well
- 3DS is (almost) a no-show
- as seen in the dynamic chart within the article, core IPs such as Assassin's Creed or CoD are flat or declining very little compared to the same period last year. Casual franchises on the other hand are taking a dive, with sales nearly halving.
