To "close the gap", MS has to sell more consoles than the competition. This isn't happening, and HASN'T happened all year. To think that "Sunset Overdrive" is going to change things is ludicrous...the bundle isn't even on the top 100 on Amazon! As for the rest of your comments, it's pure speculation. Let's come back to this thread after Octobers numbers come out, then you will see how bad this "prediction" really is.

Yes it has.

Q1 WiiU 310k shipped vs XB1 1.1m shipped
Q2 WiiU 510k shipped vs XB1 550k~ shipped.
Q3 XB1 > WiiU again. They've been closing the gap since the day it hit shelves

(VGC numbers) 1.7 million WiiU to 2.2 Million XB1 year to date.  Yeah, they had an early lead this year, but post MK8, WiiU has been outselling XB1 worldwide.  It will be a close race for the honor of being in distant 2nd place.

Common Toastboy youre giving up ? I tought this was gona be about how XOne will have sold more than PS4 by the end of the year. If even your threads dont clain this anymore the situation must be bleak for Microsoft.

WiiU is overtracked, they've been on par and given our Europe numbers are so sketchy it's entirely believeable to think XB1 has been ahead.

I see very little proof as to why WiiU has made some sort of comeback in Europe, this is the place it got minus shipments. A record for the video game industry.

Japan + US for XB1 weekly = 33k~
Japan + US for WiiU weekly = 29k~

Factor in Europe, rest of Americas, UK ect. If either console is winning it's by a tiny amount.

This isn't even August NPD numbers ...

Well, we will see as things play out over the holidays.

XBO should pass WiiU by the end of the year. Won't be a million ahead though.

I reckon 1m+ shipped ahead, but sales of around 500k ahead.

Can't see that happening. Those numbers are a pipe dream at best. XBO will not outsell the Wii U by 2.6 million (if we go by current VGC #'s) or 2.3million (If the Wii U is overtracked by 300k) from now until the end of December.

The Wii U last year sold nearly 2 million from September to end of Decemeber 2013 last year. With  better bundles, baseline and Smash in November, they should be able to move 3.5 million consoles (sold) in that time frame whereas I cannot see XBO exceeding 4.5 million (which is still respectable sales).

The Wii U should be able to maintain it's lead at least until Sping of 2015.

See you call it a pipe dream but out estimates are not that different from one another.

This Q MS will ship around 1.6m+ whilst WiiU around 600k (both could do more) so the shipment gap will be null going into October.

Over the holidays I see MS being a little up yoy thanks to more aggressive moves in the US, October and other countries, so like you, 4.5m. But I only see around 3m for WiiU. Either way it gives XB1 a 1.5m shipped lead which means an inevitable sales lead.

outshipping and outselling isnt the same...

Are they not? Damn that's news to me!!

The shipment gap being so big will obviously means a sales lead, that's obviously what I am saying.

Proof MS is channel stuffing? They only shipped 550k last Q.

ok lets do some math to get an idea of what toastboy is predicting.

Assuming VGC numbers are correct for the xbox one and Wii U.

Currently Wii U is reported at 54,000 per week

Xbox One is reported at 53,000 per week.

Now that X1 is release in 29 other countries lets bump the XB weekly sell to 70,000 per week (this is me being nice). For the Wii U, lets keep it at 40,000 per week.

The current gap between X1 and Wii U is ~ 1.8million.

X1 selling 30,000 more then Wii U per week.

30,000 x 4 weeks = 120,000 per month

There's only 3 months left before 2015

3 x 120,000 per month = 360,000 units.

for X1 to catch up with Wii U

1,800,000 / 120000 = 15 months to catch up.

What Toastboy didnt take in account was that a lot of the games that he listed are also on last gen's console and that they are also on the PS4. Currently the PS4 third party games are selling better when compared to the X1. The Wii U is starting to sell better in Japan and in the U.S. so it will continue to sell. NIntendo will also be release new games between now and the end of the year. This will mean that it will outsell the X1 in some weeks until the end of the year.

Toastboy, i know you're the defender of the X1 but do you really think that the competitors will just sit idle while the X1 makes some moves? You act like the Wii U will stop selling any consoles from now til the end of the 2014. Get REAL HOMIE!

These kind of threads are unnecesary. We all know the Xbox One is going to outsell the Wii U in the end. It doesn't matter when because it's going to happen eventually.
